I've really tried to remain balanced with Hall, but I've reached the point now where I just don't think he'll ever make the sort of player we need to compete at a decent level. He has the heart of a mouse, too, which doesn't help.

My comment wasn't really aimed at you, and I do understand what you mean. I'm having to grit my teeth to maintain any faith myself TBH. I'm tending to think now that Hall will never fulfil any potential he may have while he's being coached by Agar.

I think he is in attack - he certainly has a better scoring and assist record. As an overall 'package' maybe not at the moment.

I'm really undecided about Hall. He seems to easily lose confidence, focus or whatever else you might call it and, as has just been said, he also seems to have the heart of a mouse.

That said, I would like to see what a good coach, or even an average one, would do with his undoubted ability and potential but he's not going to have that opportunity unless he leaves us or the powers that be start to realise that Agar is actually only pretending to be a SL coach.

I'd be infavour of sending him down to an Aussie club for a season.

That's an interesting idea and with Fitz, O'Meley and Moore all with contacts down under could be relatively easy to sort out.

A season long loan a la Tansey to the Roosters would benefit Hall and Hull.

Hall is polarising because he shows glimpses of excellence in attack but is consistently average at best in defence. Whiting on the other hand has far less flair, but visible attitude and application and has stepped up his game this season so significantly that he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet. For some fans, and I include myself in them, I love to see the visible effort that Whiting puts in, and, rightly or wrongly, like him as a player better than Hall for it. I understand that you need the right blend of qualities in a squad and can't just go with a team of 17 "triers".

So we then get onto the point around Hall not realising his potential being all Agar's fault. If this is true, then Whiting's step up to be a regular MOM contender must also be all Agar's doing. For all the talk of Hall being played out of position by Agar, Whiting has had a far less fair crack of the whip as he is a loose forward who has played every position bar prop and pretty much none at his preferred postion.

Or the alternative scenario is that Whiting has taken it upon himself to succeed despite Agar's cluelessness and has done a pretty fine job of it. In which case the opportunity is there for Hall to do the same.

Clearly the truth is somewhere in between. The acid test of Hall's potential will be how many of the top clubs are seeking him out for next season.

The lad is unfortunately a flapper, he looked great in NL1 because that is his level of footie!!
he exposes the line by rushing out for intercepts all the time which he rarely gets and his tackling is woeful to say the least !!!

I certainly wouldn't go that far. I don't think that Agar has handled him at all well, but at the same time Hall has to take some responsibility himself. He has to be aware of his shortcomings and should be taking it upon himself to deal with them - although in his defence he did come up with the plan to play for Widnes last season.

Hall and Whiting are virtual polar opposites. Hall is all about natural athletic ability and flair, Whiting is all about heart and brains. Someone with Whiting's personality is always going to deal with adversity better than someone like Hall. Personally I'm glad to have both in the squad.

Over the last few seasons he has had the best try-to-game ratio of anyone in the squad.


Offiah was a winger. Hall is a centre.

OK lets make it simple , were not talking about last season or the season before were talking about this season ok in which he has produced the sum total of fook al.

His so called attacking flair is touted as Offiahesque in the way he drills in hundreds or tries and so on, his speed and agility according to some on here is almost legendary, and he makes Meninga look crap , however once the dawn breaks and you all wake up from your cot the truth is that he is overhyped, possibly the worst tackler in SL and he found his level in NL1 and thats why he shone there because he is the average level in NL1, oh and how many trys has he scored this year ??

He went to Widnes...was played in his proper position and was coached well...i dont rate cullen but Agar makes him look like wayne bennett...he came back to us and was very good towards the end of last season...then he goes into pre-season with Agar and his confidence goes again...Hmmmm...de ja vue...like i said earlier...i was at a wedding in the lakes and was talking to a widnes player at the time and was there with Hall...he said if he is coached well..he has talent abound....Hall hasnt kicked on under Agar...go figure.

I've seen him try to avoid the collision often enough to know he's windy. Whether I have played pro RL or not is immaterial. I'm not a pro diver, but I know a belly flop when I see one.

A coach will coach him though...someething which Agar clearly lacks......i will take the word of a actual player over a no-nowt like you.

But who's going to give him the courage in defence? He simply isn't good enough defensively for this league.

Halls problem is that he's got a poor coach in Agar in teaching him anything, He would flourish at a club with a coach who knows what he's doing.

Confidence player lacking confidence - as is the whole team for that matter which was clearly evident last night.

My view on him is that his defence at SL level is below the required standard. Too much flapping and arm waving and crucially taking the wrong decision regularly. It's OK saying he has suffered from poor sliding defence inside of him but he struggles regularly with one on one situations. Attack wise he has done little this season and overall has underperformed.

If you're selected to play in a SL team you have to take responsibility and step up to the mark. There are a few players who are struggling to do that and Hall is one of them. Is it coaching ? Possibly although Rich Whiting gets better and better. More to do with application and dedication in my view.
