| Quote ="Kosh"I was thinking more of the other players mentioned TBH, like resting Dowes, Cusack and Berrigan.
The Moa situation annoys me a great deal. If Agar thinks he's fit enough to play then he has to do more than one 10 minute spell in the 2nd half. If not, don't play him.
That's more poor team/bench selection than resting key players TBH.'"
That's my main concern, if we are playing Washy at L/F then why not move Radders up to starting prop with Dowes or Cusack and have either of those two on the bench with any of Maloney (great opportunity to see him) King, or even have Thackray as the 2nd row rotation.
That way we are giving vital game time to key players in a game that we should manage to control and win handsomely.

If you get rid of Cusack and King, you'll need two decent props to replace them. Where will they come from?

Couldn't agree more.
I'm desperately trying to give Agar a fair crack of the whip, but I'm afraid I just don't understand his selection and rotation policies.

One big top drawer rough- prop would be fine to go with Dowes, Hame, Moa, Thackray and Maloney. Maybe a Ryles type prop, I would be very happy with our front row and we would probably have a little left over.
The rest would go towards strengthening other areas.
Let's face it, for next season we will need a fullback, centre AND scrum half.

Agree 100%. I would love RA to be a real success but some of his team selection and especially the bench/rotation absolutely baffles me.
I'm no RL expert, but two hookers and a 10min prop as 3/4 of your bench is madness !!!

We've yet to see whether Moa and Maloney will make it in Super League. The signs look promising for Moa, but it's far from certain that he'll make the grade. Maloney hasn't even played a single minute in the first team yet.
Lauaki will be a good addition if he ever gets here, but it's not to say he'll be used as a prop anyway.
Even if he is, that only leaves him, Dowes and Thacks who are proven at the highest level.

None of which will be remotely relevant if our forwards are getting bumraped by the opposition.

| Why does Tommy Lee continue to be on our bench ???? I cannot understand it.
If he is deemed to be not good enough for the starting 13, what on earth does he offer from the bench ?? A 20min tackling spell ???

Our front row with a new top drawer prop + Hame, Moa, Dowes, Thackray and Maloney would be the least of our problems. We STILL need a scrum half and centre, and that is without even starting on Peter Blunt's brainstorm at fullback

As I've pointed out, it's not always that easy to get a top drawer prop. There aren't that many about who are available. Even if we did, that would leave the new prop, Dowes, Thackray and Lauaki (for the sake of argument). What if one or more of these got injured? Moa and Maloney are unproven. I can't understand why you would want rid of Cusack, but to keep Maloney and Moa who have yet to establish themselves at the top level. Did he poke your Mrs?
Quote ="thehullwhitestar"We STILL need a scrum half and centre, and that is without even starting on Peter Blunt's brainstorm at fullback'"
We definitely need a scrum half, but if he's playing behind a beaten pack it won't matter how good he is.

| Saints/Leeds play 2 hookers and it work for them ..So far my only problem is Why Thackray is not playing ..R Whiting 2 games back after a bad injury bring him back gently Washy glad he is back need him firing ..Still think we need M Tony and Raynor Hall is doing his best but not a Full Back for me he is to slow he doesn't attack the high ball for me and he is slow to turn when the kick go passed him..Better Wing/centre

He's one of the worst scrum halves I've ever seen. His decision making isn't good enough for him to cover 9. He does ok in the back row, but I'd much sooner see Whiting or Washbrook in that role.

I was pointing out has to why he is on the bench , Whether he is good enough is another two threads worth of debate.

I think the question of whether he's good enough is integral to the question of why he's on the bench!

He would never be anywhere near my starting 13 but having him on the bench is even worse IMO.
It says a lot about our negative outlook when a 20 minute tackling spell is looked at as useful from the bench.

At least if it's only a 20 minute tackling spell he can't try any of his suicide passes or inappropriately timed kicks. Look on the bright side.

| Our current squad certainly has it's inadequacies but our bench could be and should be about the best in SL. Instead, it's just mind-bogglingly ordinary. This can only be down to RA.
A 10 minute prop and a 20 minute Tommy Lee tackling stint is for me, taking the pi$$.

You mean Ryles who has years left on a contract with Catalans, who is 30 and who is a prop who will give you good metres and a fantastic offloading game. He's not a rough booty prop as you think he is.
