| Quote ="knockersbumpMKII"I do believe that is what I have said, I don't care, I just don't beleive anything coming out from the club at the moment, the spin, lies and deceit gives me not a single iota of confidence in anything they say. As I said, telling us it's £XXXX averts away from the truth not just of the fee but the situation as a whole. i clearly said this before, If you and others want to beleive the £150k fee is accurate that's up to you, i don't. A press release, what's said by X, Y and z won't convince me.
As far as I'm concerned the intention was to let Westerman go, which is fine, that's how things are, players come and go and coaches/owners change their minds on such matters, but the bull coming out of the club and it being a last minute deal is garbage in my honest opinion.
and if as many forummers have said it's too late to sign someone of quality to fill the void of his salary it just doesn't add up.
Indeed if we were in for another player for the backline, again, why are we keeping Yeaman?'"

I understand very clearly and I have no problem with opinions, however like Carl did with his very good post (that I still didn't agree with but respected), you should learn to back up your opinion rather than just saying wrong.

I hope we look at BJB, he is quick, scores trys and good in the air.
Carney would be a great player, but comes with too much trouble.
Charnley might be an option, but think he will start with Burgess leaving.

| I like Gelling, still rough around the edges but he's powerful and has plenty of skill, he makes mistakes but he will learn. Think he is a Cook islander so don't think we could fit him in.

I had a bit of a hissy fit when we switched attention from the backs to the back row. I'm wondering now whether this was planned all along. I'm not certain we would have resigned Michaels if it was but I'm chastened enough to wait and see who we bring in before criticizing our management further.

You'd be birds of a feather if that was true. However, I've seen nothing to suggest Dave fits that bill at all.

Nope, niether can you disprove it.
However there are quite a few pointers.
Supposedly a bad influence off field, one that Radford wants stamping out.
On field performances a bit hit and miss, certainly this season he's been off the boil to the standard we should be expecting of him, an England international. I think he's a decent LF as I've stated many times, on his day a great tackler and can break the line, decent ball handler & can kick goals if need be. However as many have said whilst he's not the worst in the squad he should be doing better more consistantly.
The signings, again, as everyone said, loaded in the back row, VERY loaded! Signing a player like CT whom is a 6 though can play centre means that for Abdul to get ANY game time means either Pryce is left out of the 17 every week and JA is the starting 6 (v.unlikely) or we make room in the back row. With Minicello, Ellis, Manu, Pritchard as four big names, where were we going to squeeze them in as well as Abdul? unless you are already planning to lose a 'big name' backrower it doesn't add up to be able to have JA AND our starting backrow plus 2 props, plus either 2 backrowers or one backrower and Washbrook on the bench. To suggest JA is loaned out would be disgraceful in the extreme.
Finally, knowing full well his contract would be up at the end of next season and not getting any fee at all plus as has been seen players wanting to move on and try their hand elsewhere (to gain success), it makes total sense to build a squad (which we have done) knowing that we had every intention of gaining the maximum from that player and releasing him.
If you can't see the logic in that, that's up to you. To me it's been pretty obvious tbh.

| I think getting rid of Westerman has me more excited about next season now, if they get a good back even better.
Think I might renew my pass now, was touch and go before.

| Joe has needed to move for a purely monetary purpose. His personal life requires a need for some of the transfer fee involved between the 2 clubs. It's nothing to do with any problem with Hull FC, Radford or anything else Hull related.

I am not here to disprove anything. Your comment on any earlier post said you didn't believe anything which came out of the club. Thats your stance, and fair enough. Don't read it then! There is not point if you not only do not believe its (without proof) but are actively getting uptight about it and feel the need to attack the club.
Could it possibly be the situation that Ellis's surgeon has told the club that he expects absolutely no further issues with his achiles and that he should be ready for action come the start of the season? Just perhaps, that to be on the safe side we safeguard players under contract in the same position in case the news was not quite as positive?
But of course, this would be a positive outlook. have no idea either way what the actual situation will be. I don't feel the need to doubt everything I read or believe everything I read unless it has a direct impact on me.

It not just that little bit possible they were waiting to see how Ellis was going to recover before making that decision?

No, Ellis was diagnosed as being ok career wise ages ago. Do you honestly think the club knew nothing until this weekend? I think it's naive to think so. We've also signed Manu since Ellis got the news. Westerman's been chased by Warrington for over a year.

| I think this is good business by the club. I don't think Westerman was irreplaceable (as I've said previously he's inconsistent IMO) and I think we have plenty of other options in the squad for the loose forward position. The Lineham sale will hurt us more IMO given the amount of tries he scored for us and I can see him coming back to haunt us in a Warrington shirt. I don't quite feel that will be the case with Westerman.
We've also got a fee (and a pretty substantial one too) for a player that only had a year left on his contract rather than losing him for nothing when his contract expired (as we did with Tom Briscoe). Whilst it doesn't particularly bother me, I can see why some are concerned about the club saying things like "we're not selling" only to then do just that. I get that things change but we do seem to be making a bit of a habit out of saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite so it is maybe something the club should look into as it's clearly rubbing some fans up the wrong way.
I also think that given some of the rumours about Westerman's off-field antics that it will be a boost in giving the squad a more professional attitude which has to be a good thing. It also sounds like we're going to improve the wing/centre which will give the squad more balance. However, I hope the Carney rumour isn't true because I fear he will have the wrong kind of influence on the dressing room. I'm also praying that it's not Welham because I'd rather see us hold onto the cap space for a mid-season signing.

This is an open forum is it not, the purpose of which is to discuss things, voice opinions etc. (despite the bully tactics on here toward anyone with a differing viewpoint)
On this thread I haven't attacked anyone. If by me stating I don't beleive anything coming from the club is attacking then I'd disagree. I said I don't beleive anything on the back of lies, spin and deceit which is exactly what the club/AP have done.
That's not an attack that's a valid opinion based on what has actually happened. Going about things the way AP ha,s does him absolutely no favours whatsoever and he is very much disingenous to the fans, it alienates and angers many.
Of course certain things should be sorted behind closed doors but it's this constant rubbish, outright lies and bullcarp that come out of the club, instead of saying the actual truth, instead of sticking his hand up to say I was wrong, I made a massive mistake (without then blaming someone else with zero facts to back it up), to say sorry I'm going back on my word because...or whatever. But he doesn't, the club have to spin everything, he has to cover his tracks and the mistakes he's made with more lies and deceit.
As you said, I have no evidence on certain matters (the amount of fee, the actuality of why Westerman has left, Cap space etc), however the trail of how things have panned out, the things I mentioned didn't all happen by coincidence over one week.
I don't care that the club sold him, nor Lineham, I don't care that that goes against what AP said, the outcome of westerman going is the best for the club if that is to fit in JA and the other signings so that we have the best 17 on the park. What i do care about is the club/AP playing with a straight bat even when it comes down to very delicate matters or one that potentially leaves egg on the owners face as opposed to covering tracks with obvious untruths.

Hi Knocker,
Genuine question but what are the things that you consider to be lies, spin and deceit exactly? I get the impress it's not just recent events but something that's got on your nerves over time?
