I dont see how people think we can sign a out n out 7 to come and play in the reserves until Long gets injured. When you look around the league not many have a so called out n out 7.

Leeds - Burrow injured replaces with Sinfield or Mcguire
Wire - Myler injured replaced with Monas
Saints - Eastmond replaced with Moore, Roby

Thats just to name a few who dont have 2 out n out 7s. Our main problem is out 6 and 7 arent good enough and to injury prone. But we cant really do much as both are under contract.

Agreed, I don't think it will happen but that's what we need, we have put ourselves in this situation by giving Horne and Long the contracts they have.

I know it's probably just a made up rumour, and there's nothing in it at all, but I would be very happy if we could sign Robinson.

Could interchange with Houghton at hooker, leaving Berro at centre, and could ably cover the halves if/when we get an injury there.

Would be exactly what we need, and worth paying a fee for.

Also, I was speaking to an FC fan yesterday who said that he'd heard that Horne was considering retiring some time soon, probably at the end of the next season.

I only got talking to him because he saw my FC shirt, so I don't know how reputable his sources are as I don't know the bloke.

I said this after the Murrayfield Magic weekend when my parents where up there drinking with Robinsons parents, they said that Luke was unhappy with the signing of Brough and was looking to move, saying Hull would be a personal choice. However they did say that he wanted to come because Stephen Wild was going to be, however with Tickle re-signing, the Wild deal was off. Robinson might still be an option though

You're right, although Hudds do seem to have shedloads of pivots.

But still they mix it up with Brough, Robinson and Drew. All 3 play at 9 as much as 7. For me im writing this season off for Hull then fingers crossed we dont re-sign either Horne or Long and bring in 2 top notch halves for 2012.

Same here , The club have had their fingers burnt enough when recruiting in these positions. Surly they've learnt a lesson over the past few seasons now.

You'd hope so. Also we'd have alot of cap space with both leaving and possibly Berro and Fitz. Wouldnt surprise me if them 4 are the top 4 earners. I just hope we get 2 halves.

Heard Long is off to Salford in a player exchange. Apparently came from a reliable source who said he hadn't settled. However, the person who told me was hammered so could be a load of rubbish.

Thanks for the insult. Thought this was a rumours forum but obviously it's only intented for great minds like yours. I will refrain from posting what I've heard in the future and just continue to monitor from a distance and know my place.

So which top quality Salford player are we getting in exchange for Long?

At the forum last week I thought Rule looked a bit shifty when asked if Long would be here next season.

I think his reply was something like "Sean is a contracted player for us next season". There was no adamancy in his reply or assurances that Long would definitely be playing in a Hull shirt next year. Maybe I'm reading too much into nothing but I just didn't feel too convinced.

There were rumours on the Salford board to back what you say, but they also think Sinfield will be a devil next year.

For me, a fit Long is still up there with the best. The games he played last season we scored tries and looked capable of scoring tries. When he didn't play we didnt. Simple as that.

I remember in one of his diaries Wilf saying as he watched Long in agony leaving the pitch with his dislocated elbow that he was also watching our season disappear down the drainpipe. And so it proved to be.

Blimey, maybe Thurston's coming after all.

I asked the question but he wasn't sure. If true, and as I stated before I think it's rubbish, then the only one I'd be interested in would be Smith who played in the Grand Final but I'd be amazed if they would even consider getting rid of a young player who could have a big future and taking on Long who would probably only last half the season.

Although, Thurston is probably the only 7 better than Longy that is injured more!

In fairness to rule rather than the consiracy theorists he uses that expression on a regular basis he has done it several times concerning rumours about Tansey going. I doubt there is anything at all in the Longy to salford stuff I'd settle for him going if Smith came the other way but I have to say that aint gonna happen folks!

Smith hasn't even played for Salford yet as one of their players so i can't see that one.
The rumour could have a bit of substance in it though as they have recruited heavily and will probably need to offload a few before bringing anyone else in.
