Rovers played there before we did they moved from playing across the road from Raynors to the Boulevard and then we gazzumped them by offering a lot more rent and we took over. Many Rover/Hull Combined teams also played there against touring Australian and New Zealand teams too.

I would love a couple of seats, if they wont let us in ther for h&s reasons to take some why carnt they just pile the seats up outside and let people take them but knowing the tight council theyd rather have the scrap money for them.

It's owned by the Council, the fixtures and fittings belong to the Council, why would/should they give anything away?

As much as people want mementoes, believe me, HCC (and other Council's in the country) have much bigger issues to address (as unpalletable as it may sound).

A sad day, but amusing as I was listening today how the council had done us a favour and were giving the boulevard back to us for a pittance after buying it for 750k. These Rovers fans should just stick to licking windows and signing petitions.

Might not mean alot to you oldies who remember the old threepenny stand but its the only threepenny stand i knew and ive got alot of good and funny memories of that stand, and the first time i ever got a fc season pass was for the seating area.

Progress was represented by Hull F.C's move to the KC Stadium. For me it came at the right time for Hull and the new era of Super League, but the Boulevard will for me always be Hull's spiritual home and the place where I first developed my love for Hull F.C and rugby league. Happy memories....here's to the future! F.C & Proud.

My son is up from Sussex and despite everything that he feels about the club at this moment in time (he has yet to attend a home game since the derby debacle) he felt moved to attend the Boulevard this afternoon with his two young sons in tow ( 4 years and 18 months). They did not appreciate what he was telling them. It was where he watched Hull FC, it was also where he wore the black and white for the colts and he in his words grew up there. His most vivid memories from his childhood are mainly at the Boulevard. From Hancock through to Horne he attended the Boulevard. I am not sure we will get the same emotional attachment to the KC but possibly futrure generations will.
He took some photos but I am not sure how they can be attached on to here.
Sad day but as Wilf says its time to move on. Providing we get the memorial and a small area for reflection for us to recall our memories and also those who's ashes are scattered there I am sure the Boulevard will never be forgotten.
As Expro says Wilf has been a great ambassador for us fans and is certainly deserving of the fan of the year award for his tireless work on our behalf.

That was almost eerie that night. Seemed like a wind came from nowhere during that rendition after almost everyone had gone. Will take that memory with me.

i also remeber having to go in the fc lottery shop on airlie street corner for our season passes, those were the days....

matchdays with my old man and his mates having half of coke waiting for the raffle to be drawn, that place was fc...full of proper memorabilia......just wish id have stuffed some down my pants whilst it was still there..


waiting till 2.55 for my old man to finish his pint so we could watch the game, walking down back of the stand, and going to toilet before we went down the centre entrance in best stand, then onto gordon street hill.....not too far round tho, just on the corner in a 75 degrees type of view..just incase it rained so we could either put up the brolly or run into best stand near the boulevard kids......

My aunt & Uncle both worked at the club from the late 70's to the early 80's. Auntie worked in the club bar & Uncle was a Steward so getting in for nowt was a breeze if I turned up when Auntie was going in

Always stood on the little wall to the left of the speedway gates & usually tried to get there about 1 to get autographs & sort my spot out (Wo betide any begger who pinched my spot..lol)
Tried my hand in the 3d stand a couple of times as a 13/14 yr old & the atmosphere was always awesome. I even had a slosh at the back, well, 'when in Rome'



Loving the portakabin souvenir shop story, was always in there buying other teams progs, sometimes it was so packed you couldn't get in...sigh.
The first game I remember was Oldham 61-10, Sammy knocking over 14 goals, vaugely remember watching the West Indians knocking the ball out the ground when we had floodlight cricket, the best match that I actually remember though was us running the 82 Invincibles close when Crooks, Skerrett & a couple of others were out injured.

That was my first game.

Started off standing on that little bridge at the Airlie Street end in front of the bar. Progressed to Threepenny sometime in the 80s then ended up at Gordon Street end (changing ends at half time).

One of the stand out memories for me was the 1982-83 Championship win, when we beat Barrow to clinch the league and the Kiwis led the team and Arthur Bunting in a rendition of the Haka.

Because if they dont they will end up paying thousands for the company demolishing it to take it away as scrap for them? Cheaper to tell fans to help yourself.

Sadly this isnt going to happen. I'm made my feelings clear to the management team at the council. (wont change anything though)

I read with a heavy heart the announcement it was to be demolished and wiped from the face of the earth. Its a shame, but we have moved on and its not right to have the old gorund slowly slipping into ruin like Boothferry park did. A quick end with a couple of bulldozers and the jobs a good un.

They can not bulldoze the memories we all hold of the place, the joy of watching Sully tear down the ring. Steve Denisons kicks in the floodlit that last drop goal at Boulevard. All safely tucked away now and I have to admit I do not have same effection for the KC and never will have. The Boulevard had a certain charm all of its own, it was never nice for the oppostition and the place was a living history lesson in all things FC. The KC is like a modern dentists waiting room, with piped music to keep the atmosphere controlled and subjued.

I shall try and get onto the old place over the weekend for a bit of "urban exploration", I am so greatful to Wilf for ensuring as much of the place that can be saved will be, perhaps many of these can and should end up within the KC.

Just watched it....was a good report but would liked them to have covered why it was being demolished and try to get that ar$e hole Minns on to explain it.

and of course the sting in the tail is that there are only plans for a school - nothing concrete and certainly no funding in place. Other schools were so far down the line under the BSF programme they couldn't be stopped - but the rest of the programme is dead in the water. The old site will lie derelict for 3 years being desecrated in the same way the old Boothferry Park will be.

I only hope the demolition company remove the urns from the ground in the way they should be - it wasn't just ashes that were scattered - I recall from my times working there some small ceremonies where ashes were interred into the North east Corner.

May be wrong on this, but if they are buried like that, do you not have to do an official exhumation via the courts

My old man worked for the Council's Park's Department and one of his jobs were to look after the pitch when it was in a real mess. One day he was there with his mates and saw some 'stuff' in the corner of the pitch, went over and put his fingers in it and licked them. He said "what barsteward's been throwing stuff around and went to see a director who explained that someone had just had their ashes scattered!
He was'nt a rugby fan my dad, but saw things differently after that. Shame the the that is Minns cannot be bothered to take these things into consideration.

If it's a proper grave you'd have to re-locate it. If it's scattered ashes you wouldn't as far as i know.

Fred Daddy the clubs handy man had sprinkled them on the pitch and I thought it was fertilizer as the Council were in charge of the pitch then we wondered what it was, and one or two of us tasted it to see what fertiliser it was. I would be interested to hear about your Dad as I have put this in a book I am working on!

I painted the old wooden stand, tared the old tin roof even asphelted behind it after been left in a heap for 4 days at Woodcock St., entrance.
For this help Charlie Clegg tool me to all away games for 2 years and Len Clarke slipped us a fiver.
So was sad day for me to loose that stand atmouspher never the same.
Sad to see old ground go always thought it had a coverment on it that it could not be built on ?
