Good thread. Balances what would have been an inevitable RADFORD OUT thread had we lost.

Today was efficient and professional. A genuine team effort. The only thing I would question was leave Sa on the field when he was clearly struggling.

Didn't go today due to prior commitments but got to give everyone a pat on the back as everything I've read has been positive.

Haven't read reports or heard any commentary but was our tactics :

Westy on the ball taking us forward, challenging the
markers with an option of Watts or Bowden

Use of the guard and shift play to the right eventually finding room for Minni ,Thompson or Shaul out the back

Don't kick to Mcgilvary were possible, put everything down Broughtons side with a quick chase

Wind Brough up and play at his area in attack , targeting him Ferres and Wardle

Hutchie's been on a few coaching courses and now he's Wayne Bennett.

I'm sure Radders will be as happy about the result and the performance as we are but he wont be getting carried away and neither should we.

I still don't think he is the man for the job going forward but I want us to win so well done to LR & the team. He got us playing to a strategy that worked, keep the silly pens down & be tight as a drum against Warrington and hopefully we'll get something out of it.

1 win down nilling the opposition is as good a start as we could hope for so the players will be bouyed immensely but let's not start getting the bunting out just yet.

Nobody getting any [iArthur[/i out as far as i can make out, just plenty of us chuffed with a result and performance that probably exceeded most of our expectations.

and all you've posted is the same, why do you feel the need to consistantly criticise posters for having an opinion that differs to yours?

Very good (and personally surprising) result, very pleasing. Hopefully we can build from here. The most promising things from what I've seen & heard are that we looked very organised, we made some smart decisions, and our discipline was better. If those 3 things alone continue we'll improve considerably.

To those who went, how was our dummy running and support play? And how about Bowden and Green? I was a little concerned when I saw both on the bench but obviously it turned out ok, did they shine or were they simply ok?

I think its a good thing that he's getting some praise on this thread. of course we are not getting carried away, one swallow etc etc, but you can just imagine if we had lost scoring nil there would have been quite a few comments deriding him

I was surprised Feka didn't play, but I guess rather went for solid rather than spectacular and that paid off.

Looking at the stats alone, Green had the better of the game.

Houghton and Ellis stats are very impressive.

I'd still like to Feka in the 17, as he offers impact no other prop does, hopefully Micheals will get some gametime and force his way in the backs as we still lack pace there IMO.

Why do you automatically want to bring Michaels in?, he has to wait for somebody to under perform and none of us want that surely.

I didn't say he should automatically come in , I said hopefully he will get some game time (Maybe at Donny) and force his way into the team.

Radders got his selection and tactics spot on - he has no favourites and is very fair and impartial with his team selection.

- A team that stuck to the game plan (at last),
- and we kept our focus for the full 80 (at last)

Amazing how they made it look so easy.
I never fancied us to win yesterday, and up to half time there wasn't a lot in the arm wrestle. Last year I think we'd have let Hudds back in as we lost our focus and game plan. But yesterday we were like a machine for 80mins, and Hudds started to wilt, got upset and wilted some more. By the last 10 mins we made them look ordinary when actually they are not ordinary at all.

Re. Bowden & Green, it's funny how stats can distort reality. I thought Green was largely ineffectual, and though not much better Bowden did seem to pack an extra punch in defence. A lot of Green's meters came later on in the game when Hudds had given up/fatigued.

I like Feka but have to say our defence does suffer when he is on the field.
We have a really young front row if you include Thompson and they did well yesterday.Bowden is Stronger but Green is more mobile.
Don't see any changes there for Friday.

Fancied your chances yesterday and for once you obliged,cracking win and to nil them excellent start.

Regarding some of the questions regarding the props and interchanges - it worked well. Think Radders didnt want Bowden and Green out there too long on their own and as soon as Crabtree came off their bench, Paea came back on for Boweden (if memory serves me correct). I thought Green was by far the better of those 2 but Bowden did ok. Green was more mobile and seemed to offer more of a threat with his running style. Houghton went well, distribution seemed better, but wasn't a game when either hooker ran from dummy half, maybe from Houghtons perspective, playing the full 80 he was saving petrol a bit?

Or alternatively, hope yesterdays players stay injury free and go on a long run of good form making it difficult for anyone to shift them.

Radders picked a team to beat Huddersfield and it worked, fully expect he will tweak selection here and there dependant on the opposition, and also may have to rest players on short turn arounds, i.e. we only have 5 day turnaround after Salford game before facing Leeds

Give it up Hutchie. You're still in the doghouse after missing the coach in Huddersfield after the Grand Final.
