Hull FC head coach Richard Agar has had to turn to youth once again this week with his squad ravaged by injuries and a suspension.

The Black and Whites lost Richard Whiting and Mark Calderwood to long-term injuries following last week’s derby win over Hull KR, a game that also saw Danny Tickle pick up a one match ban.

Star man Craig Fitzgibbon will also be joining them on the sidelines having missed the Rovers game with an Achilles problem and he still isn’t fit enough to play.

However, with a number of other players still on the sidelines, including captain Sean Long and the inspirational Mark O’Meley, Agar has been forced to turn to youth.

Mike Burnett returns to the 19-man squad, as the eldest of the four in coming players at just 21, with Liam Kent, 19, and Danny Nicklas, 18 also named in the 19-man squad for the match.

Chris Green, 20, fresh from signing his first ever professional contract with Hull FC, which was due to start in 2010, has also been included, subject to clearance from the RFL.

With Burnett, Hall and Berrigan all likely to be pushing to replace Calderwood and Whiting in the starting line-up, it does still mean at least one of the youngsters will be required to take a place on the bench.

I dont see why not. Its a game we dont expect to win anyway so you may as well give the kid a chance. You can hardly expect him to run the show but I'm sure he won't let anyone down.

Or alternatively he may be run ragged, have his confidence totally shattered and won't be able to be played again this season.

Agreed. It's about how the situation is handled. If Agar puts him in there and says "go out and win it for us" (which of course he wouldn't), then he might be in a bit of bother. If it's explained to him that we're up against it anyway with injuries and suspensions, and that all he needs to do is what he did in the game he played earlier this season, then I don't see why it should adversely affect him in the longer term.

I make it 11 players in that squad at 24 or under!

....not sure about Fielden or Price though, think Fielden has had his best days, Price not sure could be a decent signing.

I agree about Fielden and Pryce, I'm undecided about both.

Fielden when at his best was brilliant, also he is the best prop at the number 1 team in the league, I reckon he could do a job until for a season with the option of another, on a much reduced contract however.

Pryce has all the physical attributes to be an international standard player but I'm not sure about his attitude.

Any thoughts on kicking duties for Friday night? Can only think of Hall at the mo, any ideas?
