I too have thought that this is the case for a few years now. Although we are undoubtedly the best fans in the country for sticking by our team, I do feel we are quiet. I watch other teams on Sky and lots are vocal at home, I hate to say that the Rovers fans are probably the most vocal and really get behind their team.

Occasional half-hearted shouts of "come on you Hull" and half-sung Old Faithful are not enough IMO. Also it pains me when we sing about other teams when we're not even playing them, time to get some new songs going. I liked the impromtu "Ole" shouts when the boys were getting stuck in late second half, we need more FC specific songs though.

There's nowt wrong with pinching some football songs and adapting them, get them printed in the match programme and designate a singing zone in the ground. This is a good way of getting the rest of the crowd going!!?? ComeOnYouHull, why is a singing block such a terrible idea?

I'm sure some of the wags on here could come up with some great new songs, let the fun begin.....

It's a terrible idea because no-one else does it. Do you propose a conductor? Who decides what to sing and when? How do you select members? Does everyone else then join in?

bad atmosphere probably due to the fact that fc's " singers" are about 14........gone are the days of the threepenny im afraid......
in my opinion, if fc play well, the atmosphere rocks, if we dont then its garbage...simples.........

A downside of a new all seater stadium IMO. Of course all the other benefits outweigh this downside, but you naturally get pockets of singing scattered round the ground as opposed to one larger area. Get yourself to Knowsley Road in that tin shed behind the sticks half an hour before kick-off and see what the FC fans can do.

Fair and constructive reply mate. I see what you mean but it's (hyperthetically speaking) maybe worth a go. There's often a "conductor" in a singing section so I don't see that as a problem and of course everyone can join in, the singing section (eg Threepenny Stand at Boulevard, old Stretford End at Old Trafford, Kop at Anfield etc) start us off.

Tell you what, I'll sit with you and we'll sing ourselves ho lol.

I was shocked into silence, I mean, there they were out there.Black and whites showing passion,a leader on the pitch AND kicks that were not driven straight to the full back.

It is easier to sing when you are stood up. Choirs are always standing when they sing, people stand for hymns in church, even Boyzone got off their stools for the key change.

I've just accepted the change in noise since our move to the KC; it's not the Boulevard and the Threrpenny is sorely missed. Old Faithful is not sung with the same passion. I know today was only a friendly but the Robins made far more noise; in fact i thought the saddest aspect was our crowd hijacking their 'father's gun' chant just for ther last line.

I thinka singing section is a good idea ( or call it an Ultra section)

I was in the south stand with my family took my little girl for the first time she loved it she was sing from start to finish the all family gave it there all but yet only then east stand started did all the rest we just need more of us to sing if u hear some one singing join in there is plenty of people on here that are in the south stand get some songs up on here

what about mean machine or something when there around the 20 help them drive to try line and if all on here do it then south and west will be singing with the east stand if u sing something near the try line then your singing at the right time and everyone knows when to sing

There were plenty of Rovers supporters sitting in the section where I sit that is usually full of pass holders (in the West Stand). When any singing started up they, surprisingly, did not join in. I know we don't do a lot of singing as a stand on matchdays but it will be much better when it's just FC supporters in that section.

Atmosphere was pretty good for a pre-season friendly. Yes it was a derby but both sets of fans knew the result doesn't mean too much which showed from both sets of fans.

Personally I think we have dropped down hell of a lot as vocal fans since the move to the KC. A singing block would be just like having a "Threepenny stand" in the ground, aftaerall the Threepenney was just like a singing block in itself.

Threepenny lost much of it's magic when the capacity was cut (I'm talking before the old stand was demolished). We've often had a far better atmosphere at the KC than in the last few years at The Boulevard.

I just fail to see how a "singing block" works. People will sing if they want to or not as the case may be. I find the idea a bit embarrassing to be honest.

I agree with that, it is great to have a good atmosphere, I enjoy a good rendition of Old Faithful etc..however I personally like to just focus on the game, don't get me wrong I like to cheer etc,

The Threepenny from pre 1989 is what I miss and I would say I sometimes would pay money for the Threepenny of pre 1985 to be emulated.

For its last 13 years, the Threepenny was a pale shadow of its former self.

Historically our fans have been far more vocal at away games and that remains the situation. I think often many fans at home games wait for something to happen on the pitch before getting right up for creating a good atmosphere. I think sometimes too many fans would rather let someone else start a chant off.
