FC-Jay, both Hull clubs are happy to pay over the odds for old aussies / english players than put in place a system you speak of. I think Pearson knows this and is trying to buck the trend by improving your facilities but he is fighting against coaches who are only interested in the result this week as they know their jobs are on the line.

As a Rovers fan, yes its good that we can still sing "that song" but as a Hull lad I was upset that those lancashire gits won again. In that type of weather you have just got to keep the scoreboard ticking over and that is where FC went wrong. At one point the score could have been 8-6 to Wigan with plenty of time left and you never know what the pressure would have done to them.

I hope you do get to see your team win at Wembley (not against us mind) for all the grandads and dads who take their lads year after year, as fans you deserve to see it. It is a great achievement to reach Wembley but as many have said it's no place for losers.

They include that Plate thingy that was played for by clubs that couldn't get past a 1/4 final stage or summat. It was only contested for a couple of years before the RFL accepted what everyone else knew, it was a fooking mickey mouse competition

We got to Wembley, yes we did. So if you get a wish, we can get to the final but we will lose again next year - would you go? I certainly would, one day we will win there and it will make all the losses worthwhile. Not our day yesterday, but nobody died on the pitch and we all enjoyed the run up. As supporters we will get the chance to watch our team there again, that was the only chance for some of the players. They would have wanted to win, but somedays things just don't go your way. The title of this thread sums it up.We are happy just to get to a final to me isnt good enough.Until we adopt the attitude of Wigan,Saints etc that losing is unacceptable we'll continue to be a team of chokers.Hopefully AP will change the "oh well at least we got to the final" attitude

A few years ago we would have been happy to get there, the same as most Rovers fans would be. But we are a big club, and getting there isn't good enough.

Yesterday we were rubbish, great defence but that's because we never had the ball. Awful game. And up there with the '83 game, no doubt, because of the crushing disappointment. We all knew we had a chance to win,and we bottled it against an average team.

I just worked out how much I've spent over the last 2 days, it's a lot. Plus the organisation, the 6 hour drive, and the team decided they couldn't be bothered. It made me angry.

When we get there next, I'll be there. I'll always be there,because it's my team. But I can't be happy with yesterday because we were crap, and the people who turned up deserved better. We'll be better. 2nd is no longer acceptable for this club, especially when we don't even compete.

Yes, but it ranks lower than their real cup final, which strangely enough is always against us.

And do you really think that's the attitude of the players. They're carrying round a massive history of non-achievement by former players and I'm sure would spill blood to win the cup. For anyone to suggest that they don't care is just too bl**dy ridiculous. They're professional sportsmen and whilst they may not win everything it won't be for want or trying or a "couldn't give monkeys" attitude.

I'm afraid that for some people a disappointing performance will always be the result of a lack of effort. They just can't seem to get their heads around the fact that sometimes giving your all just isn't enough.

Its not just about yesterday.Look at our history we are perennial runners up.My point is some fans are happy just to get to finals and that appeared to be good enough for some of those high up in the club.

It's about time this club adopted a more ruthless streek and that's not just in finals but in all games (like the Widnes game for example). Wigan don't give a stuff who they're playing, if they can they will crush them like in their semi and even the teams in earlier rounds, they racked-up relentless scores.
Time to adopt an 'unlikeable could'nt care-less approach'. that's how we'll start seeing the highs.

Get good coaches in at the U16s & 19s level.
Hull is a massive RL city with loads of lads playing at all levels. How many Hull born lads where in your 17 yesterday?

When Shaun Wane returned to the Wigan club in 2002/3 he came in as U18s coach. Lam was the then U21s coach. They both set about coaching to win. Wane moved to the U21's as coach when Lam departed.
Under Wane's coaching they topped their League six time, I believe, winning 5 GF's in a row. Those "Kids" played yesterday.
S Tomkins, Charnley, Thornley, Mossop, Farrell, Tuson.
You have a great RL city and if a town the size of Wigan can do it so can HullFC.
Our current U19s may well win their league and the young lads who have made their debuts this year like Hampshire, Tierney, Williams and Burgess from the U19s have not been coached at all by Wane. He went from the youth system 2010 and others took over the culture.
Yesterday Wigan had eleven players from their academy in the squad and two overseas players.
As I said if Wigan can do it so can HullFC. You have numbers we haven't and the quality must be there. It just needs to be found and developed.
