if we are gonna blow what is left on our cap with a prop and a hb i would have to think the hb wont be just back up.we surely wouldnt spend big on just a squad player

Is he predominantly a SO ? I've seen his name on the team sheet many times but I can't honestly say that I've noticed if he's any good or not.

cant say ive seen much of scott grix,he seems to have been substitute for huddersfield a lot this season.hes obviously versatile.

Any halfback we bring in will not be a backup, dont forget that this is Horne and Long we're talking about.......



Whoever comes in will be a firstchoice starter by week 3

He had a great game against us at the KC in our first home game of the season, scored as well I think. He'd be a decent signing IMO.

I thought Grix played mostly at 13 and the occasional 9 this season.

he can play a number of positions,but was always going to find it hard to play half back for huddersfield as they are flush with them.

Grix is a good Utility back, I would be happy for him to sign, but hopfully we will still look to sign a halfback from overseas eveb if he signs.

Grix is a decent player and wouldn't be a bad signing by any means, but he's never a halfback in a million years, can play stand off but if Long get injured we would be back to square one, we have Whiting, Berro, Tansey, Washbrook and Nicklas who can cover there, we need someone who can play 7 to a decent standard.

If/when Horne gets injured I hope we use Nicklas as the first option, thats his postion, much better to play him there than a player out of position, if he gets a chance at 6 next season i think he might suprise a few people.



Full time training should benifit him massivley next year.

He also said on boots n all a year or two back that his favourite team was Hull.I am sure he would love to play for the black and whites.

luke robinson would be a good signing but i can't see it happening. even though long and horne will probably miss a few games, robinson doesn't strike me as someone who would want to play 2nd fiddle. plus we'd have to pay a transfer fee and that seems like a long shot too

I agree , We'd just be signing a player no better than what we currently have within the squad imo.

Grix actually looked very good attacking wise yesterday in the halves for Ireland V France in a heavily beaten team.



Showed variety in both his passing game and kicking game. Far more of a half back then any of our current cover players IMO.

Do we really need another utility player though ? Grix may well be useful in a number of positions but we need a specialist HB or preferably two of them. (and at least one prop). (Centre wouldn't go a miss either)

I don't disagree he is better then what we have, if I'm honest I think he is a better stand off then Horne, I just think if we are bringing someone in for cover it needs to be an put and out scrum half, because if Long is out it would mean Horne or Berro at 7 which hasn't worked in the past.

I agree. I wouldnt stop at just bringing one cover half back in I would bring in a 6 and 7 to act as cover.



We simply can not be left in the same situation we found ourselves in last season with a hooker and a loose forward running our attack.

I dont see how people think we can sign a out n out 7 to come and play in the reserves until Long gets injured. When you look around the league not many have a so called out n out 7.



Leeds - Burrow injured replaces with Sinfield or Mcguire

Wire - Myler injured replaced with Monas

Saints - Eastmond replaced with Moore, Roby



Thats just to name a few who dont have 2 out n out 7s. Our main problem is out 6 and 7 arent good enough and to injury prone. But we cant really do much as both are under contract.

Agreed, I don't think it will happen but that's what we need, we have put ourselves in this situation by giving Horne and Long the contracts they have.

I know it's probably just a made up rumour, and there's nothing in it at all, but I would be very happy if we could sign Robinson.



Could interchange with Houghton at hooker, leaving Berro at centre, and could ably cover the halves if/when we get an injury there.



Would be exactly what we need, and worth paying a fee for.

Also, I was speaking to an FC fan yesterday who said that he'd heard that Horne was considering retiring some time soon, probably at the end of the next season.



I only got talking to him because he saw my FC shirt, so I don't know how reputable his sources are as I don't know the bloke.
