My point exactly. They never gave him a chance and seemed to refuse to see what a mess Benitez had made for him to sort out. Now that it's Dalglish they'd have to criticise though, they're changing their minds.

I think this season is the acid test for Agar from the fans point of view, the board are good at bringing up excuses for failings tho. He will be given every chance and as much time as he asks by this board simply because he is a "yes man" and won't cause the board any hassle. I've put the case to James Rule (on the phone and in email) on 3 occasions that Richard Agar will never be a World class coach and F.C. fans deserve nothing less, all I got back was blind faith and spin. Make no mistake this board have every faith in Richard Agar to deliver and he is a million miles from being shown the door.

Did you really expect Rule to say "Oh were not too sure about Rich, nice lad and everything but we are not sure he is up to the job" it just isn't the professional way to act. Rule is there to do a job and one of those jobs is to show that everything is good at the club regardless of the reality.

What kind of different approach would have conjured up a quota spot that we didn't have?

The Rovers/Cotonou approach? Get Berro a European passport?

Mid season? In time to sign someone that other clubs could sign right away?

But that's just it isn't it , we're never prepared , we wait until the "unexpected" happens (injuries , discipline issues , players deciding they want out etc ) and have no plan B. The reason for that is , as far as recruitment and balance of the squad , we've had no plan A for years! If we go as we are now this season then the unexpected could be injuries to our half backs or hooker , Houghton having a second season syndrome , Nicklass not being up to it , etc etc. I hope that everything works out god knows we're due some luck , but what's the plan if it doesn't? Have we got anything up our sleeves? It's same old same old and is unreasonable for the club to operate like this.

To be honest I'd forgotten that this was about Dobson so I do't disagree but it was the general point I was making that we should be aware of and be prepared to deal with things as they develop and not wring our hands when they happen. We should make it our business to know all of the rules and ruthlessly exploit any gaps or loopholes. We seem to be "unlucky" with these sort of things whereas other clubs don't.

The Dobbins are on their site celebrating a 2 point victory over Halifax!!!!...............imagine these boards if we had only beaten Donny by a few points or indeed let them score against us, these message forums would be full of people demanding Agars head.......................................Oh hang on a min !!!

Big difference in terms of senior players playing for Rovers today and playing for us. Also Donny & Fax are worlds apart when it comes to ability as well. So when you take all that into consideration they did well to beat them with a team of mainly kids. No different to when we got beat by Dewsbury in 09 fielding mainly youngsters with just a couple of regular senior players in the team.

Sorry Kosh, I should have put "in my opinion". An opinion which is based on conversations/correspondence with James Rule and conversations with a relative who works at the club. The "phone a director" line is really good if you want to get any information about how our club operate. I will say that it will take an awful lot of defeats and bad games before this board even think about shifting Richard Agar from his role! (in my opinion!!)
