| I've liked Radford in the front row, he's a tough b@stard and will drive the ball in as well as graft in defence.

| A report in the Aussie press saying Fitz will be retiring at the end of the season, no surprise.
Quote And while Waterhouse will depart for the English Super League, The Sun-Herald has learnt Roosters, Blues and Kangaroos legend Craig Fitzgibbon will retire at year's end and return home. A chronic shoulder injury is said to be the catalyst for the decision and he is feeling out the Roosters to begin his future off the field.
Chief executive Steve Noyce speaks with Fitzgibbon often but said no deal had been made in relation to employment for the club veteran.

Best all round if he does...Time for Westerman to be given the 13 shirt.

| true legend fitzy and have no doubts that he could go on for another couple of years in super league but i feel this would be for the best, since hes been here hes had trouble with his shoulder and its a good chance for him to finish whilst still been a top player and important to the team and allows us to look to the future but like kearney has had a huge impact on and of the field and will be rememberd for years to come

You'd like Kath to swagger into the changing rooms 4 times a season to shout at the players, preside over PR disasters like the Willie Mason cardboard cutout/visa failure/de-registration extravaganza, give chance after to chance to a no-mark like Cockayne, struggle with corporate basics like filing accounts and annual returns on time, and promise for 3 and half years that ground improvements are imminent then fail to deliver? The reality is that neither team are going to challenge anytime soon, but by comparison our board is the embodiment of dignity and credibility.

Never understood this accusation. Rule is an [iemployee[/i FFS. What do you expect him to do - publicly criticise his bosses all the time?

121 competition points and 1 play-off game.
(vs your 118 and 1). We have a game in hand though.
In absolute terms, similar. Relative to expectations - I support a middling SL team.

so easthullbirdys wish to get shot of the board and run at a loss will potentially see an improvement of 1 competition point/season on average.
Hmmmm, sounds like a cunning plan to me.

They must have told him that when he first came over then because hes been t.
Long been offered 20k plus pay as you play apparently.
Keep Washy as a back rower which is his position and also sign another backrower.
Move Sharp on, some clown will take him.
Sign a new winger, maybe Phelps could do the job if we have quota space?
We need 2, possibly 3 new props to work alongside Moa and Ogre.
Keep Horne.
Mid table mediocrity is not acceptable.

| With Fitz retiring we need a prop/SR replacement.
Washy, Dowes, Lauaki, Long can all go and we need to find two decent props from somewhere.

| I'd like Washbrook to stay, but as a backrower only. I'd still like us to sign a neew backrower, for starting back row of Tickle, Manu, Westerman with the new guy on the bench, and then have Washbrook as the cover and also for competition.
However, for the good of his career I think that he should make a decision to leave.
Our main priority must be the signing of a prop. Moa and O'Meley are awesome, hope that we have both signed up, and we have Radford signed up for next season. Looking at his form this season I would also offer Dowes another short contract, he's exceeded my expectations of him. We then need to buy another good prop for competition for places, interchange, cover, etc.
I'd let Lauaki go and Fitz seems to be retiring.
A new Prop and a Backrower must be prioritised, with new contracts given to Moa, Dowes, Washbrook.

Hame can cover prop and 2nd row and could be a bloody good player if coached right...we have Obst and possibly Newton to cover Houghton.

| If we did this:
In:
McKinnon (Full back)
Seymour (Scrum half)
Ellis (scrum half)
Heremaia (hooker)
2 forwards
Out:
Phelps (Full back)
Long (scrum half)
Washbrook (hooker/utility)
Fitzgibbon (LF/prop)
Lauaki (2nd row)
Burnett (2nd row)
Retain:
Horne
O'Meley
Moa
Dowes
IMO this would be upgrading at FB, scrum half and hooker, but we'd need 2 forwards. However, it's time for one of those to be an academy promotion - bit fed up of waiting for one or two to get their chance. If we can get a very good forward signing, I think the squad looks better. Also, could we get Scott Wheeldon back? Bit short of homegrown players.
