I feel sorry for him. The guy's clearly got problems/issues. The move to Rovers was done out of utter greed and selfishness, but not out of malice. Morgan (deliberately IMO) sought to minimise his contribution to Rovers after Dobson arrived and took away from Cooke what he does best, and it's too late now for him to recover his playing career (and in the HDM it sounds like that's not that high up his priority list). He screwed us over for sure, but his performance at the Galpharm and winning try in Cardiff defined Hull's most successful run in a generation. I feel sad that the talent's gone to waste and fans on all sides remain alienated to him.

Nearly stood on a cat today off Newland Ave, was sprawled out (alive) on the pavement.

I don't feel sorry for him at all, he laughed at the club, its fans and his teammates because he thought he was worth a higher salary.

Although we have seriously missed him as a player, and have struggled to replace him (through stupid decisions of our own) I feel Hull's decision not to pay him 'international' level wages was completely justified. He's only played a handful of top-class games since he left us (most of which against us)

Got to say I do think there was an element of malice in it - the glee he shared with Gollum and co and the Rovers board and fans was plain to see.

He's shown no remorse for the way he left us in the $h1te for the rest of that season with no chance of signing a decent replacement. Instead, he's made triumphant periodic appearances in the media protesting too much his requests for privacy and promises of his book which will reveal the "true" story (inferring how hard he was done to at Hull).

No mention of the moral and financial support Hull gave him during his two scrapes with the law to say nothing of the repeated scandals which were kept as quiet as possible by the club. Instead all we hear is some humbug claptrap about playing for his boyhood team.

I'm certain he loved the scandal and the sense of importance it gave him at the time. I'm also certain that there was a degree of sticking it to the Hull board. Greedy and selfish AND malicious, imo.

You're right, and I can't really rationalise it. But I do think that if he'd signed that contract and all the registrations had been in order, he'd still be at the club and on the form of 2005/6 and the pivotal role given to him, we'd be challenging. Maybe with him, Long and Horne as 3 pivots.

Fair enough. Like I say, I can't rationalise it but I do feel sorry for him. I'm usually [uvery[/u good at grudges as well.

TBH I got the sense that it was 100% about the money and for all the joining his boyhood team etc, I never really felt his engagement was that genuine, maybe because of his hate-hate affair with Morgan.
