Another thing ill say about Gentle is a dont think hes a big enough man to be able to handle the job of coaching Hull FC - the expectation is too high. We are on paper a massive club that seems to be constantly coached and driven around by people who simply cant handle the job as its too big for them hence constant under performing throughout the years. For this club to move forward and finally achieve what Adam Pearson wants it to acheive then we either have to get the best coach in the british game or one of the best from Australia. Not an assistant and not someone whos on the up.

Maybe, maybe not but I can tell ya it is his job to fix things and I don't want to see him fail, I want to see us playing a hell of a lot better!

As said, we've been mediocre to poor for several years now with several different coaches. That suggests the coach isn't the only problem. Years and years of underinvestment, and a 'here for the beer' attitude is going to take time to turn around, particularly as the salary cap doesn't allow us to simply go out and buy a whole new team all at once and our academy has been ignored for so long so there isn't a whole clutch of youngsters ready to come in.

Last few seasons we've been good up front with no creativity. We've sorted that now. Good half back combination, three good half backs in fact with Heremaia as further cover. Great combination down one side with Crooks and Lineham, two for the full back slot, real shame we're losing Briscoe on the other side but still we're well set. We're just lacking down the middle now, Paea coming in and hopefully one other should take care of that. Much better balanced and set up next season so I'll judge the coach at the end of that.

When he took over I thought it would take three years to get right and I think it will. Never going to be a quick fix after years and years of Sharp, Agar and Hetherington.

We are not going to get the best British or one of the best from Australia. They are all at the best British/Australian jobs.

Only way clubs are defined in RL is by their fan base. There are only two clubs bigger than Hull FC in SL.

Big clubs consistently win trophies,
Big clubs consistently make a profit.

It's not so much been a debate as you pointing out what a great fan you are.

Only Leeds make a profit

Newcastle united never make money and rarely win trophies. They are a big club in their sport though.
Super league is crying out for another team like hull to challenge the big two or three teams.
Like it or not rovers fans, there are only a few clubs in English rugby league that have the potential for big crowds . Hull are one of those.
I hope gentle is the man for the job. I do trust Pearson though to drive the club forward and make any changes as necessary .
Trouble is, we aren't patient because we've been under performing for years now, not just since the current regime took over .

The big difference between our best and worst performances that Gentle pointed out when he joined the club hasn't been narrowed.

I still feel he is the man for the job, though. Still plenty to play for this year.

So there is only 1 big club in British RL then?

As for gentle, I don't see him as the coach of a GF winning team. Don't think he has it in him

hows peter gentle doing?.I thought he was doing ok, up until he said a few weeks back ( something like) "we are going to build up in the next four matches to the big one in july,he might have just as well have said the next four matches don't matter, its the challenge cup were after!!!?

Gentle i think is the right man for the job. As previous poster said regarding Gentle's comment on the Cup game. I don't think that has helped the players mindset as i do think Gentle is targeting the Cup.

However though, i do still believe in him and hope he can push on with his talents. He may have been an untried assistant coach. But come on, Assistant to the best RL coach in all rugby league for club and country. You don't come away from that with no general knowledge of the game and maybe more.

The blames with the players. Maybe to many players expecting an easy ride and finally have a coach who say's no.

If Gentle says No, why was Galea even signed?

Thats not what Warrington said when they wanted to replace Cullen. They went and got the current GB coach who had a proven track record in SL doing well at two previous SL clubs.

We need the best if we want to succeed and that goes from the coach to the players. Signing players like Arundel, Crookes and soon to be Jordan Thompson will take us no where and neither will keeping Gentle. I dont even think Paea will do anything here as it seems to be a poisoned chalice and whilst weve signed him Warrington have gone out and got Asotasi and Saints have got Mose Masoe. Big difference imo

I agree on the second point.

I think the gap has narrowed, we lost 46-0 at home to Wigan a few years back and there's been nothing as bad as the away trip to Wakefield a few years back. That said, it hasn't narrowed a great deal.

Rather have Paea than them two , Asotasi is a massive gamble and Mosoe is decent but not better than Paea.
