| Quote ="thehullwhitestar"I think that with Moa signed up, we would have a multitude of options right across the pack. There is no doubt that a top class SO or a real big and pacey strike centre would be great but with the pack and bench that we could have, we'll have one hell of a platform for our backline which will still be very strong.
O'Meley Berrigan Cusack
Fitz Lauaki
Washbrook
with Moa, Manu, Tickle, Houghton, Burnett, Turner, Horne, Whiting to choose from for the bench. This is as strong as there will be for a pack and a bench.'"
Who will be your first choice stand off then?

I'd play Tansey at 6 and Horne at FB.
There is also the option of Whiting at FB,I also think Jack Briscoe might get a couple of games at FB.

unless we sign another full back, we need to keep Tansey at FB. I know he'd make a great stand off but need a solid FB first, we have plenty of options at stand off if Horne loses form. I know he's not been his best this season but let's not drop him based on form from 5 months previous.

| Quote ="thehullwhitestar":1a8iy5ufLauaki should clearly be considered as a first choice SR with a view to covering prop where required.
If Agar wants to let Moa go and replace him with Lauaki, we will have less options in the FR and our SR will have considerably less punch.
The only possible explanation for such a plan would be that Agar is a total and utter clown ??
'" :1a8iy5uf
Clearly, Agar sees Lauaki as a second rower. He played him in the middle to start with because it's an easier role when fitting into a new team. He's mentioned him as a second-rower on several occasions - below is a link to one (that doesn't work)
As for the Moa thing, I find it difficult to see why people can't see the dilemma that Hull were in and I think they have handled it well. Sam himself said he was aware of the situation throughout and in the end they offered him a contract as promised.

The "dilemma" as you put it, was self-inflicted because we should have never jump in with both feet and given Cusack an extension so quickly.
What is the difference between him and Moa ?? We hand out an extension to one of them immediately and leave the other to stew for months while we "weigh up the options".
Surely we could have weighed up the options with two quota places available rather than just the one ?

Presently a lot, Cusack is fitter, more experienced and overall a better player.

You're getting boring now. At the beginning of the season he was our best forward until others and eventually himself got injured. He might not scatter defences, but his defence is sound, he's fit, always draws in alot of defenders and gets a quick play the ball. I expect him and Dowsey to start next year when all fully fit, and recapture the form they had early this year.
Moa is not the complete article yet and we'd be gambling on him becoming a great player.

No I don't think he is fantastic but he certainly could be very soon and he is a damn sight closer to what our pack needs than Cusack. Probably on half the money also.

Moa and Cusack are 2 completely different types of prop, and as such there roles are different and the reason why Cusack will spend more time on the pitch doing the hard work compared to Moa.

Didn't someone previously suggest that Cusack being here was instrumental in Fitzgibbon deciding to come?
Either way Cusack will definitely be leaving at the end of next season and maybe Fitzgibbon will too (isn't he on a one year deal with possibility of an extension?) which will leave us light in the forwards and for that reason I would favour keeping Moa if we can.

We'll also have O'Meley, Manu, Lauaki, Berrigan, Houghton and Washy in the forwards if you just want entertainment. I want a winning side and having Cussack in there will be more benficial than Moa. Even if we don't sign Moa, our pack on paper looks better.
Go have a look at the stats from this year, it not our forwards that are lacking, it's in the oppositions 20 that has let us down.

So would I !!!
However, there are some fans that seem to want a pack full of workhorses with zero go-forward. Someone has even just suggested Cusack AND Dowes as our two starting props FFS !!!

So Cusack is your "favourite player" !! Bully for you ! Maybe check the spelling of his name before you put it on your next shirt.
