Cas & Salford have also being linked in the past, I used the word may because in my experience as the RFL are so stupid nothing would surprise me!

I know other teams have been linked, just meant that Wakey were strong favourites for the cut even before this happened so they need a miracle now.

Can't see it been Salford now, recruited pretty well in the off-season and already started to build their new stadium.

Salford havent recruited well at all...they are all nearly past it and they was bloody awful at MM......As for Wakey....they lied on their application to SL about doing ground up..no work done...1 CE lead them up the garden path with money promises and they splashed the cash on his word and this isnt the 1st time they have had money problems......not fussed if they stay or go.

I feel for the Wakey fans,can you imagine what it would be like in that position? Come close ourselves,and its not pleasant.

Definitely feel for the fans though I think a lot of people have lost sight of the fact that by spending so much money they didn't have Wakey have effectively been cheating for quite some time and the ultimate loss of their franchise is justifiable punishment IMO.

Makes you wonder why the rfl got rid of the 50% rule.

That's the overly simplistic argument you hear a lot of Wakey fans pedaling.

Crusaders are a special case and like it or not, we all know it. For the RFL to get the money from sky that they do, expansion clubs such as Crusaders have to exist. So even if it's hard to stomach, it's in every other clubs interest for the RFL to help them to survive. Wakey bring very little to the table other than tradition.

It is not hard for me to stomach, a team has to go down as long as it is not Hull FC I do not particularly care...You posted Wakey deserve to go down because you felt they cheated, I highlighted in that case so did Crusaders.

Not enough clubs with sufficient turnover to spend at or near the cap meant league places were pretty static. In a misguided (IMO) attempt to 'level the playing field' they scrapped the 50% rule so that any club could spend full cap if they wanted to. Barking mad given the previous history of clubs spending themselves into oblivion.

And inaccurate. Neither Wakey nor Crusaders have broken any RFL rules.

I meant signing players/agreeing contracts when they knew the money wasn't there to fulfill them. It might not be against the RFL rules but it's cheating the players involved and every other club in the league who are only signing players befitting their means.

Every club in the game that makes a loss is effectively doing the same. That's most of them. Wakey ran out of the Directors Loans that prop up the other loss-making clubs and Crusaders struggled with debts inherited from the previous owner. The difference between them and the others is essentially scale and timing.

I know most teams have debt that's underwritten and Wakey probably won't be the last to go through this. But presently at least, the other clubs have met the expenditure that they have taken on and Wakey haven't. Thus Wakey have gained an unfair advantage IMO.
