A journalist called Matthew Shaw was scathing of the RFL yesterday on Twitter - saying that they act like a mediator between the clubs who are all looking out for their own interests, when the RFL should actually be laying down the law and saying what is going to happen

| I thought SL was it's own "boss", using the RFL badge when it suits.
RFL website....
"The RFL administers the England Rugby League team, the Great Britain Rugby League Lions team, the Coral Challenge Cup and Women's Coral Challenge Cup, the Betfred Rugby League Championship and Betfred League 1, the Women's Super League, and also supports and administers the grassroots game."
No mention of SL.

Thought this was meant to be a great time for the league rise up where as it seems nobody has a f()()kin clue - my bet is nothing will change apart from relegation and a couple of rule changes that follow the NRL and it will of taken them months to get to these decisions'"
The only thing that is certain is that Headingley will be one of the grounds used whilst playing behind closed doors

| Quote ="Elstone"We are delighted to confirm Betfred Super League will be returning in just a few weeks’ time on Sunday August 2, live on Sky Sports.
We are in the final stages of confirming where the games will be played, and we continue to work closely with Sky Sports to deliver the best possible broadcast schedule for our fans. Further details of this will be confirmed over the coming weeks.
Above all we know that fans want to get back into grounds to support their teams. We will continue to follow government advice and work alongside the RFL, clinical advisors and ground safety personnel to ensure that when that time comes, Super League is ready to welcome back its fans at the first opportunity.
Whilst the recent government announcements underline increasing optimism, the pandemic remains unpredictable. Our final fixture schedule needs to respond to opportunities that will unfold over the coming weeks and accordingly, full details of fixtures, venues and season structure will be confirmed as they become known.
I would like to express my gratitude for the understanding and patience shown by Sky Sports, Betfred, and our other valued commercial partners, as we have navigated through this difficult time.
Finally, I would like to thank the fans and players for their patience, positivity and desire to see Super League back up and running post-Covid-19.'"

| Four months to come up with that???? Very revolutionary from the rfl...............not!
Still lots of unanswered questions - relegation? rule changes? what neutral ground (even though we all know it will be Headingly)? Will Super League go to 14 teams?

Note, 3 teams will be playing their "home" games on the opening day.
I assume season passholders for those teams will be able to watch the game, even if they don't subscribe to Sky??

| Quote ="IR80"I think people have needs closer to home in all honesty, once furlough starts reducing in August the redundancies will only increase, I know a lot pf people who ahve taken payment holidays on mortgages, credit cards, loans, even insurance etc. and just spent the money, all of that is going to need paying back, nobody has yet tested the water with income protection insurance etc. (as far as I am aware) to see how 3 or 4 months on 80% pay and not paying the premiums pans out if the worst happens and you get made redundant. RL is, ultimately, a luxury purchase that quite a few wont be able to afford short to medium term, let alone donating money to a private business.
We may be euphoric and heading to Brid in the sunshine, but those brown envelopes will start to drop on the doormat very soon.
Leeds expect to lose £4m because their business model relies heavily on extra income from the stadium facilities, like I expect KR will 'lose' more money than FC because of cancelled concerts etc. It is the Ltd company that will incur the losses, not the 'club' as such.
Nobody has yet looked at the wider economic impact of Covid on towns in terms of vastly reduced (in some sectors, to zero) income, how many FC/KR/City fans are taxi drivers, hairdressers, plumbers, decorators, labourers etc. that do 'a bit of cash work here and there', undeclared income hasn't been topped up to 80%.
Some very tough months, possibly years, ahead.'"
All of the occupations you mention, have all done pretty ok during covid, with exception to mobile hair dressers that don’t have premises. The amount of money been thrown about by the government and the holiday breaks giving on mortgages etc, I can’t see how the majority of people up to this point can be that much worst off, even the spongers have been getting extra money for doing exactly what they was doing before lockdown. And if your stupid enough to spend your money that you’ve saved from not paying your mortgage, well!! What can you say, your an idiot. IF people can be sensible coming out of lockdown, and don’t cause a major 2nd wave, I don’t think things will be as bad as people are suggesting, I’m preparing for tax hikes, but that’s got to be expected I guess. Disappointing how long the RFL have taken to get super league back up and running, lazy, like a lot of other people and companies
Ps the mortgage holiday bit wasn’t aimed at you

3 teams will be playing games which should have been played on their "home" ground. The other 3 teams will be playing an "away" fixture.
If that's too hard to understand, then so be it.

I agree to an extent, some people on UC aren't spongers, but I did find it odd that there was an automatic increase. And I definitely agree about those taking payment holidays when they didn't need to are idiots, even more so that they have got used to spending it. The RFL still haven't confirmed anything other than three fixtures will be played, no idea where, the Grand Final will be 'sometime in November, somewhere', SL2021 will start late, but no date given... it is a shambles, especially when they were, if we are to believe them, intending to be the first sport back on TV.
Snooker, Tennis, Cricket, Football, have all beaten us to it.
Looking at the TV and other media coverage of Brighton and Bournemouth I fear that a second wave is inevitable, there are more redundancies on the way. I hope I am wrong, but I think things will get worse (economically) before they get better.

Embarrassing ain’t it, I still don’t see how the rugby couldn’t of started 2 months ago, if players, family’s, staff was all isolating for at least 2 weeks, then only interacting with other clubs, where was the risk? No doubt they’ll be an economical fall out, but honestly think the majority will come through this eventually, although I am expecting some bargains in the car show rooms and auctions, no doubt the rich will get richer and the rest of us will end up paying for it. I hope we don’t have a 2nd wave, because no way the government will be so generous, it will be everyone for themselves and bedlam

Yeh I know, 1st of June, what do the government know about sport, the rfl should of been knocking down the door saying, we’ve been doing x y and z, we are good to go safely. Just to lazy to negative for me. Just my opinion of course. Anyway hopefully pick some football fans up, surely must of realised it’s one the most boring sports going now!

From not 606 HCAFC site. Also heard Mike Ashley going after HCAFC once Newcastle deal sorted. The latter came from my son.
