Disappointing IMO. Was certainly a player in 2009 that I thought would cut it at SL level. Another homegrown player that we've invested a lot in over the years who's ultimately not made it, sounds like.

We know decent halfback's available, I would be suprised and shocked if we didn't make a move for J Monaghan, we have the quota space, he is a class player, we could do with a centre.

Salary cap space could be the only issue for us.

Had high hopes for Burnett but last year had a shocker. In fairness he was never going to get a first team chance with the quality of backrowers we had and some players find it hard going back to just playing reserve grade. Personally last season I would have loaned him to a championship club as it would have benefitted him far more.

While Monaghan would be a great signing, if we are going to free up cap space WE MUST GO FOR A HALF BACK. Its been proven for the last three seasons Richard Horne isn't durable and while Long has been for most his career he picked up two injuries last season. We cannot rely on these guys being available for any length of time.

I agree with all of that - I had very high hopes for him, he didn't do that well in any of his appearances (that I saw - so he might have had some good ones) and a loan spell would definitely have benefited him.

there's also brad drew but i think he's retired. if we can't get rovelli i'd try to sign sam obst. luke robinson would probably cost a transfer and i doubt we'd be lucky enough to sign danny brough. or we could try to sign that moore bloke from national league

So we are pursuing Rovelli. If it doesn't materialise, who then? Who has ever said that Obst/Robinson/Brough want to leave their clubs? Ever thought they may be hapy at their clubs and not want to leave?

I think some Hull fans think there is a secret surplus of SL standard half backs hiding somewhere and as soon as a SL club needs one they can be found and signed and rip up the league!

1) Try and sign Monaghan for a year

2) Not spend the money and keep the spot open just in case

monaghan won't come cheap,which would rule us out i reckon.

He won't be cheap and has suffered with injuries in the last few years. Plus at this stage of his career I can't see him wanting to play anywhere as cover.

Try and sign him.
