You're only saying that because you know you can't. Only one or two posters on here have ever made excuses for Radford and COYH is certainly not one of them.

I've put my point across many times both highly critical and supportive. I don't feel the need to trot out the same boring crap on every thread day in and day out like I read on here from the likes of yourself, bumpy and knowledge-free standee. You're as boring as our early season attack structure and tactics. The best thing about winning isn't the 2 points gained it's the fact that you lot go quiet for a week. Hope that means enough for you.

Its clear to me in that both interviews are attempts at deflecting blame from himself and Radford by making out that 2012 & 2013 were poor, disappointing years for the club. When the reality is 2012 & 2013 were much better seasons compared to what we had under Agar and last year under Radford. That excuse was already wearing thin back in October 2014 when the HDM interview was given, but for the club to be still trying to paint the same picture in August 2015 is ridiculous IMO. Judging from the mixed opinions on this thread I am far from alone in thinking that.

Not too keen on Gentle either, by the looks of it. Why do you bother??

I think the squad is looking good for next year, and I hope LR get's it right as I yearn for some success like everyone else.

I won't be buying a pass though as I'm tired of being let down every year (for the last 7/8 anyway) and I fear LR simply hasn't got the skill set to turn the squad which is good on paper into a team that can challenge for trophies.

Articles like the one in the HDM is just more of the same for me, every year its the same old rhetoric.

I guess there isn't much else they can say though.

I really hope I'm proved wrong next year and LR blossoms into the coach AP thinks he can be, and we can play an entertaining brand of rugby and challenge and compete with the top 4 (I say challenge and compete - not better before anyone jumps on that)

I'm also happy to admit with hindsight I was wrong! He wasn't the right coach for us long-term, but how was I to know at the time we'd replace him with Radford!

So I'll read between the lines, Pearson basically says that Gentles recruitment was poor, can anyone argue with that?

As I said, it took about a minute, probably as long as it took you to amass all those AP quotes.

The trick is not to believe everything you hear/read, particularly from football club chairmen.

With the best will in the world, success is never guaranteed, but some on here seem to think that because AP said it, it will happen. And when it doesn't (which is more likely than not), they just love to complain.

His recruitment WAS poor, but as the HDM article that kicked this thread off states only 7 of the Gentle team that got hammered in the playoffs remain, and I don't see anyone suggesting we get rid of Shaul, Watts, Houghton, Ellis, Green & Westerman. Only Yeaman attracts mixed reviews. So why is Radford still talking about Gentle's recruitment?

Looks like you will be tearing your hair out then over the next 6 weeks ( if you have any) responding to all the criticism as its very likely we will not pick up a win.
If that happens it makes Radfords second year tenure with his own squad really poor.

.... because AP recently said that he wished he could have given LR the same financial backing that he had wasted on Gentle and Macrae.

Looking back to last October we were told by AP that in 2015

"I genuinely feel we have a real chance of doing something next year and respecting the tradition of the club by winning matches in style."

And

"If we don't do well, fans won't be hearing me talking the team up again."

I fear that he is simply going to use his coach and players as proxy's to do all the talking up instead. This interview is simply the first in a long series of soundbites about next year being "our year" "turning the corner" etc etc.

Why don't they STFU for once and let their performance on the field do the talking?

How hasnt he, and gentle did better with it than radford as, as far as performance and league posistions go. Do you want radford in charge of what is looking a decent squad next seanson, yes or no?

I'm not sure that declining to discuss the future prospects of the team until we've kicked off in 6 months time is advisable.

I'd say a fair assessment would be mixed. Some poor players, but equally some of the best players in our current squad are still his signings. Disregarding next season's recruitment because we don't yet know how it will pan out, I'd also say that recruitment since has been equally mixed so far.

Looking at this year:

Paea, Watts, Ellis, Thompson.

Sa, Talanoa, Pryce, Sneyd, Minichiello, Paleaaesina, Michaels, Naughton, Rankin.

Compares quite similarly IMO, some real quality in both lists, a canny signing or 2, and some averageness to bobbins (especially when adding in some already moved on). Probably our 5 best players in there this year IMO, shaded by Gentle's recruitment despite all the criticism it gets.

It's just a shame that it's not a competition decided by who does the best "talking up" off the pitch.

If it was we'd win the hubcap, GF and CC every season.

The problem was his poor signings like Arundel, crookes Milller, etc were some of highest earners, he also paid over the odds for decent players like McDonnell and Pitts. I really think we would have gone backwards with Gentle as him and McRae didn't recruit the right players in the right areas and relied on David Howes for their recruitment.

Despite two decent seasons under Gentle their long term plan was poor and they had to go, the next person who took over would always have a tough job, I still don't think Radford is the man to take us forwards, but let's hope he proves us wrong.

Moaning about the same thing on different threads every single day is pointless and boring.

How can anyone take any guff from the club seriously anymore.

Lets face it, bottom of the league, facing 6 meaningless games, people giving up free tickets to go. Udders and Cats will see sub 7k gates. Yet AP will threaten us all again.

Its just a sad sad state of affairs. The fact that 8th isnt good enough, but it's all we'll ever get with clowns at the top

The amount of posters who have given up of the club the last two years, but still continually post when things go wrong, you are either in or out, you can't have it both ways.

Anyway there could be some positive news tomorrow so I'd expect it to be quiet on here tomorrow.
