Parking concerns about his off the field antics for a moment, I do think that, should the deal come off, it's a massive coup especially when added to Ellis.

People can say money talks, that's the only reason he'd come to Hull. But look at our relative positions to Wire, Warrington and Leeds and their unconstrained finances. All have been in for either Chase, or Ellis, or both. If we were to get both, as a mid table team scraping the 8, that would be significant. No one can seriously read Ellis's plaudits and think the guy is anything other than the real deal and one of the biggest SL signings for 2013. He chose us. Sounds like Chase might do the same. Would be a hugely positive endorsement of where AP wants to take us.

I can see why you feel betrayed though he shouldn't hav signed a long term deal.

A lot of the blame must lie with the cas board who have let the cas side in such a poor state th last few years though, similar too hull with thier last board.

My only concerns about chase are thet he's a nobhead off the pitch and has no long kicking game. team him with brough and curb his off field antics and it's probably the biggest signing the club have made since sterling

Agree with all, I am very confident Pearson and our coaching team can control him though.

as for his 'no long kicking game' he might be able to work on that under PG, however if we get Brough as well (which would be fantastic but can't see it happening) then we'd have the best of both kicking games

There's no doubt that there's a huge raft of positives to the signing. There are also a few negatives, and I don't really see the point in ignoring them. At no stage have I said that I don't want the signing to go ahead, simply that I have a few reservations. One of which is I just don't like the guy. He's been violent in his recent past and I'd find that difficult to swallow if repeated while a Hull player TBH.

gentle doesn't seem to have done much with horne or seymour's kicking games so I'd be surprised.

I don't like him much either. But AP seems to have quality as his over-riding criteria. Inconsistent with the love-in for Lynch and Ellis and their teacher's pet credentials, but there aren't that many role models to go round I guess. We'd certainly be open to "I told you so" if we were to get him and he misbehaves with all his previous. But if we want success and a player of this quality becomes available, reckon we have to look into it.

Well The Star has suggested a couple of times that we are in for him, most recently saying that we had agreed a four year deal.

Chase is a risk should we actually sign him. No question about that he has history on and off the pitch. As I've said before there is also a risk by not signing him. He is the current MOS and possesses skills which we haven't seen in our team for many years. AP knows we need attacking flair and big names to begin to compete and start rebuilding attendances over the next few years. There are fewer and fewer players of this type that are potentially available and credit to AP if we do get him we wont be left wondering.

People wonder if Chase will fit in within our structure. With so many changes afoot in personnel going forward I reckon we will be far less structured than we've been for a decade in coming seasons. PG has form working with Wests in terms of an attacking ethos. I think the team that will be built over the next 2 years will contain more attacking threat and pace and Chase could be just fine in such an environment. Interesting times ahead hopefully - it's more interesting being an FC fan now than it has been for 5 or 6 years.
