Gentle and McCrae have been directly asked that question more than once (actually by me on the first Gentle interview). The answer was that we do have squad depth and they are happy with the squad in general.

Our academy forwards will step up when needed apparently.

The basic fact is that you just cannot start a season with a paper thin pack of forwards because the nature of the game dictates that you will often have a decent amount of them unavailable. Then what? Play with 15 men perhaps?

What a disgrace last night,a mediocre salford side turns us over again.Can someone tell me what has changed from the last few years,no wonder salford chose parish over gentle. Gentle says "Iam not frightened to play my youngsters" isn't that what agar kept saying,and never did it.?? What is going to happen when we play anyone decent.? A good result against warry which when you look at it is a point gained,on the plus side,seymour played well as did tickle and mckinnon,but the rest seemed to get dragged down to salfords level.Depressing.!

spot on,this was my fear when gentle took over,the expectations are to high after the last few years of dissapointment,they are expecting miracles from gentle,things are not going to be turned round in the space of a season,gentle is a very good coach but hes not a miracle worker,its going to take time,the club has been ripped apart from top to bottom.

Agar clearly wasn't brilliant for you - but he didn't send out players with bags over their heads and their ankles tied together. He was part of the problem, but there are other issues to address, and it'll take time.

Gentle will need to learn from this game. im of the opinion that he wanted to use the young lads last night as he assumed we wound win comfortably. when he realise we had a game on our hands, he sh@t his load n left tied men out way too long. clearly we went into the game with a game plan but then deviated from it.

Alot of over reactions imo. Off course we should be beating Salford but the best teams in the world have days were it just doesnt happen.

Would be interesting to see how many times Salford actually got into our 30 without penaltys. We looked ok in spells playing a good set with a good kick and keeping them in there half but penalys killed us imo.

McKinnon looked classy again. Thought Tickle dropped off a few tackles with Bowden going well in D. Houghton was blowing with 15mins, i've been saying from the back end off last season that teams target him so he has to make alot of tackles which takes juice outta him which showed in the last 15.

I don't understand all this talk of losing it in the forwards. We had no problem clearing our lines most of the night and for the most part restricted Salford from making meters. It was a few dumb plays and really poor discipline that allowed Salford the field position to score.

Seymour and mckinnon seem to have a great understanding . Thought Bowden tackled well when he came on just a lot of the other players didn't turn up and perform

It's a test of Gentle's mettle how he lifts the squad for next weekend.

We beat Warrington last season but drew this season....does that mean its a step back........your post is flawed as the way you put it,Teams arent allowed to improve.

We need to improve our finishing position, indeed this our stated intention. Last year we got 4 points from the same three fixtures, this year we've got 3. Of course other teams can improve, but for us to improve our finishing position we need to be getting more points. Salford are not a team we should be losing against if we want to step on this year IMO. I was hoping to close the gap between us and Leeds, Huddersfield, Catalans, but not to lose a fixture against Salford. It's disappointing.

How can a Super League coach expect to win a game away from home in this league if he leaves one of his subs on the bench for the full 80 minutes and another one for 72 minutes?
Cant decide if Peter Gentle is nieve or arrogant. I was praising him yesterday for giving your promising youngsters a chance. I may have jumped the gun.
