Don't take everything there out of context and I would'nt ever say that we should or would be like 'some' of those at football. I just think it's daft to say on the one hand that we are 'bitter rivals' then the next we're all sat backslapping each other.
We are rivals, we should be looking at our own seperate identities and not in each other's pockets.
As I say, I will not attend a combined team it has no interest for me whatsoever.

As for working closer together, fine for some things, but not player development. You can not share or agree a split of players without conflict at some point. Having a draft sounds good, but pick one might be a staunch KR supporter and FC pick him.

Back in the day Bill Land and Charlie Watson had a mutual respect for each other and I know they where quite good friends, the boards where fierce opponents of each other but not enemies. I think our last board kept there dignity and there distance despite fierce provocation and stupidity at times. History has proved to us that only one team has tried to destroy then other and I for one will never forgive or forget that piece of treachery. The present KR leader is a passionate fan and that is both a blessing and a curse because he thinks like a fan with his heart and not his head at times. I look at some of his dealings Cooke and Mason stand out as being decisions not taken with everyone on board (the coach) and where doomed to fail from day one.

I say keep well away; we have done well enough since 1865 without there input or help and beware of Egyptians bearing gifts.

pre-season is a bit pointless as you say but I'd love to support the combined Hull team. Good marketing for Hull, both its teams and RL - I can see us turning out in droves for it plus the non-Hull England supporters would love to see the match I reckon. Of course the combined Hull team will be a bit depleted of British players because they'd all be picked for England... hem hem. If we don't play England then it would be a good warm up for some of our players for the world club game. Of course it will be difficult next year because Hull are going to win the GF this year so it would just be another game against Rovers.

TBF I dont think Assem Allam has got anything to do with it, think its just the HDM massaging his ego and him getting free publicity about his wealth again. Funny how he can give £1M to Rovers and say he'll foot the bill for a combined match but yet his beloved City can't afford to spend money on players that is evidently needed with their results so far.

He should reel his neck back in and concentrate on getting enough generators & pumps made to steady City from sinking in his first full season as owner.

Think this is a great idea by Pearson. Having KR just down the road is a fantastic resource for FC. Instead of them playing a bunch of average aussies and FC rejects we should be using them to blood our youngsters and for getting our stars back to fitness after injuries. In return (to help them from going under) we could maybe become their shirt sponsor or play a pre-season friendly (possibly for some kind of meaningless silver plate?). To save them from national embarassment we could also let them play their home Sky fixtures at the KC.

Pearson has said so many times that he's not Allam's front man that if it turned out to be true no-one would ever again believe a word he said.

And if Hudgell ever agreed to a merger he'd be lucky to get out of East Hull with his life.

Having said all that while I'm in favour of better relations between the two clubs I don't see the need for any co-operation in terms of joint ventures and we certainly don't need another derby which would probably only result in a load of injuries before the season even started.

The combined team idea was a great attraction back in the 50's and 60's and could be again particularly if we take England close as for another Derby IF millenium Magic is on again then its just too much and taking the Mick. If we meet in the Cup and the play offs we could play them 6 times in 30 odd games, that smacks to me of money making taking precident over common sense! Just of course my thoughts at this time!.

City Of Hull versus Australia or NZ would be of interest though...but I can't see why they'd want to take part (neither have done a proper test series for a few years now)

Maybe that's wht Allam lent rovers the £1 million, because of this shortfall in stand funding?
