I totally agree Bones. We can have all the best "pivots" in the world but a threadbare pack with little or no depth is no good to anyone (unless of course you're happy to battle it out for 8th spot)

I took it to be out for the full season inc playoffs, rather than just the previously assumed league season.

He'll say in his column that his season is almost certainly over.

Saw him last saturday near his home in Orrell with his kids, shoulder still padded and arm in a sling. Still a few months away,so don,t know if will make the play offs.

Im happy with the recruitment for next year..plenty of options at halfback/hooker which weve all craved for years...i think we have a decent pack anyway especially if we retain Moa.....like Paul M has said recruitment may not be over yet and hopefully we can make one more signing (prop) id ill be satisfied for next season.

Same here. The creative spine of the team (full back, Scrum half, hooker) has been strengthened. Westerman should also revert to his natural loose forward position. Plenty of options & creative players.
Hopefully some of the young forwards will be able to make the next step.

Long says he still wants to stay, as he feels he has let down the fans. While I commend the guy for this I am not sure his body will let him.

Coaches role would get my nod though, if he can pass on what he knows and show Ellis ect he would be still a great asset.

If he feels he has let us down he can play next season for free

if he wants to stay then he can but only in a coaching capacity but for me longy still wants to play so 1 more year at widnes could be a great way to retire where he started of as a young player. i cant see him been a coach here when he could most prob get the same kind of job ect back at saints a team closer to home for him

Whatever happens,it is disappointing it hasn`t worked out.Wish he had been here in his prime.

if a deal could be done as pay as you play i would be happy to keep him another year as long as it does not cost us anything it he gets injured
