7: Seymour, Long, Obst, Ellis, Williams
9: Houghton, Heremaia and Obst (sp)

Talk about going from one extreme to another. It'd be an absolutely clueless decision to resign Long as a player.

I agree, keeping Longy would be a daft idea. It's like us signing Heremaia, unless something is going on with Obst.

thats where the term "strength in depth " comes into play and thats what we got for next year

Long and Obsts wages will be money well spent with us probably losing Fitzgibbon and Lauaki

I read somewhere,that Long was willing to accept a pay-as-you-play deal,but also joining the coaching staff,plus all these choices in the pivots.....have we not complained about a lack of quality cover in these positions?? Hudds and Saints have shown this year that plenty of choice is essential.

yes but in our case the amount cover in the halves would be at the expense of cover in the forwards. remember we have been VERY lucky this year in terms of injuries (bar Sean Long)

for years FC fans have bittched about no real covr now they have plenty, they bittch again







yes we will possibly loose one or two forwards, but who will replace them ???? someone will or are we now saying that the point of the new system is not to give youth the chance to come through the ranks ??
why would we loose Obst ?? its down to him our season turned around in part?/

I think it would be great to give the younger players some game time... but if you lose two players like Fitzgibbon and Lauaki then i think we should try and sign at least one forward, at least to replace Fitz

Only way I would keep Long is as a coach. We already have Horne, Seymour, Obst, Nicklas and Ellis for the halves plus Williams and Heremaia if really needed.

I can't see Ellis accepting that he will be 25 before he gets a regular shot.

spot on we really need to sign at leaste 1 forward for next year if both lauaki and fitz go, long cant prove his fitness because hes always injured. i would love longy stay as a coach but cant see it when he could most probs get the same kind of job back at saints or a team nearer to home. as for pay as you play im not sure at all how that works on the slary cap ?

When would you play long on a PAYP deal? When seymour, ellis and obst were injured? Waste of time

ellis should be back up half to both 7 and 6 so if 1 of horne or seymour get injured, loss of form or suspended then he comes straight in obst should be 4th choice half and 3rd choice hooker

All this talk of having Horne next year, when exactly did he sign a new deal for next year?
