you know I would personally have given the likes of pearce and Crooks 15 mins each and one or two others...
lets face it the CC is important and a great day out but the SL is the cherry we need right now .....anyway the squad is as it is and looks strong enough anyway to win easily but not comfortably, i see this being a game of flashpoints

tbh i do think we will win comfortably with the squad were putting out, oldham are quite a poor team probably worse then donny who we beat quite easy with a mixed side in pre season but i suppose we will just see and hopefully get a good draw in the next round

I agree that some should have been in but not half the squad that some was posting on here......Aldous is in but Bowden should have been and Lynee in for Briscoe but apart from that...have got a very good squad out,we are actually playing well and a good game to try out a few moves and formations.

Dont wear a wig as i like my bonce.

Very surprised to see such a strong squad. Tickle, Houghton and Horne definitely need a break. I would also consider resting Yeaman, Briscoe and Moa.
Oldham are mid table, in the lowest professional league. We don't need our best 17 out, not by a long shot.
It's a long season and other teams like Wire and Hudds have the luxury of rotating their squads. We don't have the squad to do that, so we need to take our chances to rest players when we can.

theres no need for yeamen,briscoe,horne,tickle,manu,fitz,ogre,houghton all these should deffo be rested and given the week of refreshed ready to go again for the rest of the season as may be playing every week if we do well in the cup. perfect oppitunity to play a few youngsters, oldham are a very poor side worse then donny and we comfortable beat them in pre season with a mixed side with youngsters.

Maybe some of the players mentioned who fans believe "definitely need a rest" would much prefer not to have a rest but instead want to stay match hardened and match fit now that they are in the middle of the season ? Having time off from games could actually make it harder when they return than if they carry on playing on a weekly basis. If players have been playing with injury then they definitely shouldn't be making things worse but otherwise why rest ? In addition if the players have as a group targeted the CC as one of their goals then maybe they've bought into playing in every game to achieve that. Don't know for sure but just thoughts.

FC have altered there Squad bringing in Kent, Crooks and Lyne. So i expect all three to make the 17.

hopefully all 3 will play be intrsting to see who plays fullback?

I'm pleased with that, give some of them a chance at least.

They need a chance Paul. We're always hearing about how these kids are "ripping up the 20's" but we'll never know if they're good enough if we don't ever see them playing in the first team. I personally think we over-hype the kids that are coming through our system.

I hope Ben Crooks does stand out - we need the next generation of our own talent coming through. It's dried up in recent seasons which is a worrying sign.

There are a few good lads coming though dont worry, i think the difference these days is that we dont rush them of the line anymore as was the case in the past... Tommy lee drew too much attention and played too often at the beginning which burned him out to a degree if thats a good analagy to use??
whilst into the spotlight and big time suits some we have to remember that many of these are still kids despite their size and all mature at different speeds,

Agar has got to play his strongest team possible regardless who we are playing,we need to keep improving for the rest of the cup and the second half of the season,thats why i agree with him picking a strong team,barring fitz,ogre,yeamo who will benefit for the week off,plus phelps who will be back for salford,take oldham to the sword
