Sounds like I made the right decision not going tonight, what would have cost me 50 quid with petrol and a ticket. No sour grapes here because I didnt see the game but it seems fairly typical of whats going on with refs, and not just supporters of our club. Shoot me down all you want but I do actively look at the ref for our games and if its Childs, Ganson or Silverwood I seriously consider my spending power. Surely this isn't the way it should be, The sad thing is I know for a fact I'm not alone.

Apparently Matterson has complained about the ref too, so if both coaches have complained the RFL shouldn't be able to fine either of them, but it depends on what Agar actually said too.

But the thing is with Childs, he's a crap touch judge so who thought he would make a good ref?

All I can say is Huby, Jackson etc. must be fresh as daisies. All those metres gained without having to do anything. Childs was bad for Cas and abysmal for Hull. He lost control of the game big time, his incompetence led to the frustration that got to both players and boiled over. In all my years watching RL I've never seen a worse performance, even at amateur level. Shocking.

The thing is Cummings and co know he's not good enough because they've had him at touch judge for most of this season.

People pay £23 to go watch a game rugby and tonight a game that could have been very good was ruined by that complete idiot.

I have been watching Rugby League for over 35 years and I have honestly never seen a refereeing display as bad as that. He spoiled what started out being a very good match; thunderous tackling and some quality play from both sides. He lost control of the match after 10 mins, the players were as frustrated as the fans.
You had Phelps and Chase throwing the ball at the floor in temper and the likes of Fitz and Long screaming at him.

Same i was honeslty in shock with what i saw and as Easthullfcfan said he was bad for Cas but shocking for us, and in the end cost a game that IMO we would of shaded other wise.

The unfortunate thing is that there are not enough refs so he won't be dropped,he certainly left me baffled with some of his decisions.All the fan's want is consistency by the man in the middle and after seeing that display we got a very sub standard performance.

Why don't we have a wealth of experienced referees, all lined up and ready to take charge of pro games, as back-up because an under-performing referee has been dropped?

I'll tell you why. It's because our game, from youth level up, is inflicted with know-nowt numpties, who choose to vent all their frustrations out on the referee. I've lost count of the number of promising young referees I've seen in the past, who were lost to the game because they were subjected to abuse from parents, speccies and coaches.

I'm not defending Childs but you have to realise that there is little alternative when the referee pool is so shallow. Just think about that, the next time you think you know better than the young lad, who has bothered to get a whistle and take charge of an under 11 game. Why should he bother to be the subject of touchline abuse from some idiot who has never read The Laws of the Game?

It could have been a good game of rugby,but it was ruined by an inept referee. I'm not going to say he cost us the game, because he was crap for both teams.

The players were obviously frustrated and it showed. Sincerely hope he gets dropped although that won't help us.

i get what your saying but to have a zero tolerence of criticism against referees is wrong, how do they improve?

also think you need to chill a bit from your last paragraph! rugby, football, ice hockey, whichever sport refs linesman will always get criticism from supporters its happened for years!

The ref was poor, for both sides. Cas made a better fist of working with a poor ref, players like Sean Long should know better.

I am left completely baffled and bewildered by the referee tonight. Was really looking forward to the game with Cas coming in with such good form and Hull with a point to prove but sadly it became the James Child show. Some of his decisions just left me baffled!

Please Hull FC complain to the RFL about this clown so we dont have to suffer him again anytime soon. He can spend the rest of the season spoiling other Super League games.

His stats say it all, we picked up 6 yellows and a red throughout last season, child reffed us twice and gave out 4 of the yellows and the red. Where we that much worse in those two games than the other 26...

The man ruins games as a spectacle, i would seriously consider not going to a game purely cos hes reffing which cant be right.

Im not gonna blame the ref as we still had chances to win the game. For all how bad he actually was, i left feeling angry and frustrated. I wish the game could have been on tv for people to see so i dont have to defend my team.

Anyway im going to put the game to bed now but i do feel sorry for the players and the effort they put in.

first 5-10mins of the game was fast, open attacking rugby, then he got his whistle stuck in his throat the players got frustrated and it became a brawl. Not how RL should be at all.

He's the only Child id like to see Gary Glitter get hold of.
