It sums up the situation but not the international problem. Britains lowest ebb internationally came when Aussie imports were banned in our game. When the ban was lifted and more Aussies came over as the 80s went on we got closer and closer their national side. As their number has decreased in our game our national side has drifted further away from theirs. Why is that then?

We haven't got the money to sign the best union players anymore.

Every Brit in RL is scratching their heads trying to figure that one out mate but I really cant see how getting players off quota will help matters!

Young English players at KR must groan at the fact another overseas player will probably come in on the back of this rule dodge.

That is a bigger factor than people give credit for. It isnt so much the money issue (although Union is awash with it now) as the fact that Union players are given Non-fed status now in our game.
I would give them Fed or even home grown status and some dispensation as far as their salary goes on the Cap.

How tragic. When FC do indefensible things like sign Reardon, FC fans are sensible enough to agree that it's stupid and slate it as such. Rovers plan on going into next year with 10 overseas players in their starting 17 through a succession of shabby rule-bending strategies and you come on here saying it's for the good of the international game. Textbook Rovers apologist who not only can't handle criticism of his club but goes out of his way to defend the indefensible.

It's a fine line of getting good imports at the right number, let's say the correct number is 5, players like Mason are welcome due to their status and ability.

It's the other dross filling the league that is the problem.

Thats what smaller clubs tend to try and do against their bigger rivals.

I agree and I am not having a go at Mason playing in SL because I am looking forward to seeing him play, he will put bums on seats for sure and provide quality entertainment but the fact that it will open the door for more 'average' players coming across and keeping out the english players doesnt sit well with me.

There's no wonder we get tonked every time we play the Kiwis & Aussies. It's not that it's Hull KR either. I don't think any team (including Hull FC) should have more than 4 oversas players (i.e. not born in Britain).
