| Quote ="Ellam"Fitz 2nd row for me with Manu coming off the bench and Lauaki at prop off the bench with Radders starting at prop.'"
Much rather see Lauaki running wide at defences, and with his handling skills, he could be a real threat. We definately didn;t see the best of him last year, but I think his attributes would make him more dangerous at 2nd row. Fitz on the other hand played as a prop last year. His tackling and taking the ball up is fantastic, and we need the bloke playing down the middle in the thick of it.

| Would love to see us finish in the top four next season but don't think we're quite strong enough. Hand on heart, can you honestly say that we have a better squad than Leeds, Saints, Warrington and Wigan? My own humble opinion is that the answer to that is no. However, nothing would please me more than to be proven wrong come the end of the season.

| I guess the idea of holding back a quota spot and some salary cap space just in case doesn't work now visas take much longer to come through. Sods' law says you'll sign Rovelli, Long'll be ever-present and you'll end up short of props.

true, but maybe you're forgetting about the likelihood horne picks up an injury too. rovelli will definately be needed next season IMO
regarding props, we'll be shagged if o'meley or moa pick up a long-term injury

The thing is we have never held back a quota spot, we only found out recently Berrigan could come off the quota. It's not like we have had it available all season.

And Yeaman, Long (never fit), Radford, Hame and Washbrook.
Also we dont know how Berro will get on at for a full season.

I was suggesting it as a plan - because of the way things have panned out your options are more limited than you'd like, so wait and see would be a good idea IMO. Except visas take so long now.
Rovelli is probably the more important signing - can he play hooker btw? Westerman might be the better signing long-term, but the squad would look just as strong for 2011 with the addition of a workmanlike prop IMO. Fitzgibbon and Lauaki would do a job, but as Rovers supporter I'd prefer to see them lining up there than in the back row, as IMO you'd be slightly wasting them.

| Quote ="PAUL M"I don't know what they are going to do different, none of us do. I would think that maybe getting more games from the halves and having cover will be a big step in the right direction. Playing Berro at centre will help us from an attack and defenisve perspective. Not having as many new faces to integrate into the squad might also help and maybe a different pack set up, ie a proper looseforward might also help.
This year is a much tougher one for RA as last season he only had to better finishing 12th, this season he has to better finishing 6th and without any marquee players coming in. We will see what he is made of this season.'"
Why do you think, if that's what you're saying, that Agar will make these changes? I wanted Berrigan at centre last season for the very reason you say , more experience and better defence - if he's got his head on - from a guy who's played there at the top level in an area that we needed experience. I wanted us to play with a proper loose forward rather than an extra prop too and we could have done that by playing Whiting there rather than in the centre or on the wing , we didn't though. In fact we deliberately avoided doing it as a matter of policy until , in respect of Berrigan to centre , the last few games.
Do you think that Agar has changed/will change his mindset? I hope he does but I've not seen anything to suggest he will yet.

| I get the distinct feeling that Grant Rovelli's biggest sin in the NRL is not being Johnathan Thurston.
He'll be fine for back up half back.

Agree or at least it takes a leap of faith to hope that the ageing players suddenly recapture form, speed, health etc and that the younger players who have some potential , and to be fair there are a couple , come good at the same time.

| Stupid question maybe but does Rovelli count on the qouta. He has played for italy could he have a european passport??. If we do indeed complete the signings of Diskin, Westerman and 1 of Rovelli or Robinson I would be happy with squad upgrades. I'm sure we would have enough in props with Moa,ogre, radders, fitz and 5th choice Dowes on a much reduced contract
Hulk could cover prop when injuries occur
