Gutted for Calderwood because injuries mean he has never had the chance to show us what he can do and this means the end of his career at Hull.

If it really is an ill wind that blows no good then this is Craig Hall's chance (last chance) to prove he deserves a new contract.

Can anyone confirm this, as we thought the same watching it back. Whiting's a pretty robust tackler so was surprised to see him back off - if he was playing with a broken arm all that time should go down in FC folklore.

Depends on the type of break Mrs B. With adrenaline pumping etc a player can quite easily shrug off a broken arm as a dead arm in the heat of the moment. It is only later when the pain continues that you think it may well be something a bit more severe.

Think also the fact that the game will be on SKY and we already have a number of key players with injuries with Whiting & Calderwood to add to it may have a bearing on their decision, as cant see the RFL wanting a very one sided game to be live on SKY.

Don't think it will make any difference, Wigan are one of the big teams regardless of thier previous seasons performances and a good win for them on Sky will not be viewed as a bad thing.

Whiting's a massive loss! He was a big contender for our player of the season, in my eyes.

Mine too. Fitz and Ogre have been awesome when they've played, but they've both missed a few. Houghton has been excellent of late, but probably not consistently as good over the course of the season. On balance, I'd probably give it to Manu as he's been excellent in just about every game - easily one of the best second rowers in the competition. Whiting wouldn't have been far behind him though. He'll be a big miss for the last few games.

Awful news. Gutted for both players. Whiting in particular is a huge blow given the way he's played and his versatility. The lad has no fecking luck does he?

To be fair to Houghton he has only started showing his true worth after Berro was injured and he got extended game time. I would probably agree with you though that Manu has been the best of the season closely followed by Whiting. Fitz has been good when playing and the same goes for Ogre but with the time out it puts them down the list as far as i am concerned.

Absolutely. It wasn't a dig at him - he's had far and away his best season this year and it speaks volumes that he's keeping Berrigan out of the side (or at least out of the hooking role). I just think Whiting has been better overall when you take into account the early season games.

Always been a fan of Whiting as you have been and i believe both of us were telling people how good Whiting is before the season started.

Both big blows, Whiting has to be one of the most unlucky players in the league.

Think that it is for Calderwood as a Hull player his last touch of the ball in a Hull shirt will be him kicking the ball to set up the match winning try against Rovers

Hopfully he will get another contract in SL and recieve a good reception at the KC.

Tuffour wont be anywhere near the first team IMO, Lyne and Jack Briscoe will be infront of him IMO.

How hard do you have to be to play a game of that intensity with a broken arm!
