how can leeds afford to bring in smith they must surely be at max salary cap. we have got money left on the cap with a doubt but how much is the question but we deffo be trying to get him, add some experience and quality to our backline.

What's gets me is how leeds are struggling a bit so try and do something about and we are suppose to be the one club in profit why don't we go spend some of that and make a statement to the rest

Yes it looks suspicious at times but I think Sinfield came out and some of their players are prepared to take less money to play for a club that wins things.

I [isuspect[/i that we're just not very good at negotiating contracts or exploiting the few remaining 'loopholes' in the cap. Plus Leeds may be able to get away with paying less because they have a better coach and a history of winning silverware.

Or our marquee signings are on mega bucks to attract them; more than they would have been offered at sucessful clubs. Surely most teams would have been interested in Fitz/Long/O'Meley; yet they ended up in Hull; money talks my friends and we've blown the lot on our talented aging trio imho.

With regard to smith as a guess I'd say we spend within our income forcast to make a profit.

Again there's a massive Imbalance in the squad with our backs looking bare thin.

If he signs for Leeds will he be available for the cc? What date was the deadline this year?

He would be a good signing but I think people are bigging him up a little, good solid back, but it just shows how short we are for British backs when we are fighting over a player of Lee Smith standard.
