Thought we treated him ok, he was more a victim of circumstance IMO. It was rovers who binned him, not us.

| Good move by Hull if true but i would like to see the club inquire to see if we can get Webbo registered as a player because imo we are a bit weak in the position of naturally gifted halfbacks.

Spoke to him only a month or so ago in a queue at the cinema he really enjoyed it at HUll Fc and thought that the team spirit was excellant and everyone was really friendly he seemed to get on well at th fc and gave me the impression that he would come back if asked but whether he has been is another matter.

Never said it did just indicating that he would not be averse to a move back (because of anything that had 'gone on') Having said all that I would perhaps be surprised if he did come back!

the fed trained exemption only applies if you are still at the same club as you were before the rules changed, if you change clubs you then become non fed trained again, the exemption doesn't transfer with the player. This is why bradford were so upset at letting james evans go to cas when rovers got stan reclassified as they would have been able to keep him.
Dave K is right, regardless of his british passport he would still count as non fed trained for you and would count on your quota, not sure if your quota is full but if it is you can only sign him in a coaching capacity. Mind you I think that would be a very astute signing as the kid is going to be a top line first grade coach in due course.

Wrong. The RFL changed the rule and the exemption now follows the player regardless of which club he signs for.

It was discussed extensively back when it was unclear whether Manu was going to be Fed Trained or not. One of the other posters on here (can't remember who) had an email from the RFL explaining that they'd changed the rule although not why they'd done so.
See also Gene joining Halifax and taking his exemption with him.
Finally, [url=http://www.wiganwarriorsfans.com/wigan/?s=Viewtopic&o=584195this link[/url was posted on your own forum just a few days ago. It gives probably the best explanation of the new quota rules that I've seen and makes no mention of the restriction to a single club being in force.

The quota rules are as tight as they can be while complying with EU employment law and avoiding expensive legal challenges. If you read the post from Ian Lenaghan linked to in my reply to sandy, it gives a great picture of how we ended up where we are and where we eventually get to.
The RFL may be generally incompetent, but in the case of the quota rules I think they've actually done a pretty good job given the minefield of legal complications they have to plot a course through.
The Fed Trained idea was actually created by FIFA and has been approved by the EU. There are rumblings about them finally getting around to implementing it soon.
And if the current rules are a 'joke and embarrassment to RL', what would you suggest instead?

The rules must take account of UK, European, International employment legislation, human rights etc. I also think that the RL is trying hard to improve its home grown product by bringing about the quota reductions. Already we are seeing clubs paying large sums (in RL terms) for young home-grown talent rather than spending it on overseas players at the end of their careers. This is as a direct result of both the quota system and the rules that protect clubs from having talent nurtured within their youth development scheme being lured away without any financial recompense.
So I know we all find it almost impossible to understand the rules but I think it's because it's a very complex legal minefiled that they are attempting to navigate through.

International doesnt come into it. European absolutely dictates what we do in the UK through being a member state. (Human Rights Act imo is one of the major contributing factors to us currently having a society where people feel owed something and you cant sneeze in public without someone trying to take legal action, buts thats a different stroy)

it might help if all the variations and exemptions were in black and white in the RFL's operational rules on their web site, I've been right through them in the past looking for clues and there's no sign of them. The vagueness of how the rules are being applied is something of the leagues own making by not publicly stating how the system works.

Granted but if Agar made a bad start, would he be first choice as coach? probably not. So why would he go to a club as assistant when there is a possibility of the head coach being binned because he's not liked and had a bad start and the fan base demand a 'world class' coach who wants his own backroom staff.

I agree and think it's partly by design. They can then hide behind the ambiguity of it all when there's a contentious ruling to be made. IMO there should be a register of players showing their status from an eligibility perspective.

The Fed Trained stuff is actually in the Operational Rules. The trouble is that it's worded in legalese and split between two different sections. It takes a while to track it down and piece it together.
The eligibility of all registered players will be held by the RFL and available for clubs who may wish to sign a player. Not sure that anyone else needs to know TBH.
