Yup, nail on the head there.

| It is worrying really having the knowledge that supposedly Agar selected all the signings and they came because of him. Esecially when in the next 2 weeks if we lose against wakey and salford he should be facing the boot. For me he is already half way along the plank and only the signings being anounced have stop everyone calling for his head.

| I think we are in dire straits when many of us are 'comfortable' with the option of leaving Agar in charge until he "has his own team"
Like i have said before all coaches are in the same boat taking over teams with players they maybe wouldn't have but they are still expected to improve and get results......which we are simply not doing under Agar....in fact i'd argue we are going to far the other way and are getting worse.
I see nothing now in his coaching, tactics, game plan etc to install me with any confidence for next year...despite the players we are signing.....all you have to do is look at Warrington....on paper they had some excellent players but the coaching set up wasn't right.

| Quote ="Jake the Peg"Seems to be a number of fans who believe agar is a good coach and it's just the averageness of the squad which is resulting in the current poor performances.
If he were put in charge of saints do you think they would still play the same brand of rugby? Would he have the personality to effectively manage a team full of star players? Could he inspire them to new heights?'"
When Saints took a punt on Millward (who was highly rated by Graham Murray) he revolutionised the game in Britain by turning the dummy half into a massive yardage maker, attacking through the ruck area using lighter and more mobile forwards and increasing the skill-set of players so that they could be employed in unusual positions to devastating effect. When Anderson arrived he revolutionised the game in terms of defence. In his first season he brought his NZ Warriors tactics with him - employing a massive (but highly mobile) set of forwards to smash the opposition at the gain line. At times it was almost impossible to make more than thirty yards per set of six vs Saints. Potter is another highly rated Australian coach who slowly turning Saints around to his own style of play.
Saints have consistently invested in QUALITY COACHING - with successive coaches building on the work of his predecessor - and it has consistently paid dividends. All of the above earned their spurs in the NRL where the best techniques and practice are continuously applied, so much so that it is viewed almost as a science.
Agar is a product of the British coaching system, which is renowned for failure after failure. Which goes a long way toward explaining Hull's current predicament.

I couldn't agree more, but therein lies the problem the board won't invest the required money for the right quality coach which has left us with Kear, Sharp and now Agar. Our whole system needs changing from the youth development upwards, the right coach could transform Hull into a top 4 side within a season I feel.

The issue we are not taking into account is the oft alluded to interference from Kath in team matters, season after season there are incidents that occur where, we hear, that Kath (ot the board"icon_wink.gif have overrules decisions made by the coaches.
So, just WHO picks the team, and would a big name coach work under our current bard if they are, as we perceive, meddling?

But the difference at Hudds is that when Brown arrived, he cleared out all the backroom staff and started again. We on the other hand keep the dross and sign a new coach! Maybe we need to take a new approach next time??

True after the Millward Era they tested Rotherham?? then things started going pear shaped and they looked like they may be starting to go off the boil. They then went out and got the best coach available and looked what it did to them. Then they have replaced him with Coach of the Year. They could of given the job to a host of people like Sculthorpe on the cheap but they realise a top coach brings the average players up to the good standard.

I don't believe all that rubbish about Kath and the board, I think it just gets made up by people with agendas against them. I don't think Agar would stand for it and I don't think Sharp would have done either.

I know some istances where it was true, particularly when Sharp was in the final throes.

If what I heard (I don't doubt the source as reliable) the fact Sharp didn't stand for the meddling is the main reason he was terminated from his post in the end.

I never said he was a yes man, it was the fact he wasn't that caused him to go.

Yup, he told me personally that Sharp was the best coach he'd played for.
Mind you that was shortly before he buggered off to Rovers.
