I cannot see any reason why the club shouldn't be doing this approach (maybe they are?), after all it could turn out to be a masterstoke if a gem is found. We could offer an up and coming player a one or two year deal on half the salary an established qouta player gets.

Or at the very least send an e-mail to the club with the names of some potential targets, as I suspect that the club won't have a clue when it comes to young players in the NRL.

Think you could say Dobson was a risk, unproven in the NRL and only ever played for teams at the bottom of the table in the super league. But he's really matured as a player and when watching him you'd think he's a seasoned veteran but he's still only 22 and I think Rovers are trying to build a team around him (hopefully for us in return we'll win some trophies). The guy mentioned Ben Barba? He would probably be a risk worth taking, I mean what have FC got to lose?

Alot of people keep mentioning Finch and Orford but, it has been proven with Crocker that clubs are willing to release their top players to a Super League clubs to free up salary cap money, as long as that player is not playing against them.

So we could be tempting a contracted scrum half over here, but if we can't do that i'd be happy with a reserve player, as long as he can play the scrum half position properly.

Agar is from what we are told, very knowledgable of the young players in this country, I wonder how good his knowledge is on the young players in the NRL.

I totally agree with all those who have said we should look at NRL halbacks who are either on the fringes of first grade or even playing reserve grade, You mention Thurston as a joke but there was a time when he couldnt get a starting place at the dogs due to Anasta and Sherwin, how would we love to have Dobson or Soward now who we were linked in the past year or so who were not regular first graders at the time, the talent is definetely out threre in the various grades even some of the championship clubs have been scouting out there and signed some decent talents, its just a case of been willing to look for it, I think the club wouldmuch prefer to go for a big name though in a different position, even if its not the best for the club in the long term.

Take it you haven't watched him recently he was diabolical against us and even worse in Murrayfield, more of a backward step then a forward I wouldn't even take him till the end of the season.

Thorman is a much better tackler then him also.

I always liked him as a junior and thought he would make it big, not sure if he is worth the risk now or is what we need.

You have to be mad to say that. Brough whilst probably not the answer for us is if nothing else an aggressive and committed tackler , Thorman is third man in most of the time and at best ineffectual.

If we can sign a decent Stand off or Fullback I would have a look at Matty Smith from Saints. Been impressed when I have seen him and it doesnt look like Saints will need him or want him.
