Don't like the guy but fair play to him, hope he raises plenty of money for a great cause.

The best of luck to him I say regardless of what went on at Hull. The money he will raise will possibly save life or make someone's final moments more comfortable.
Anyone who can't wish him luck regardless of what he's done in the past really need to get a grip. If it benefits a charity then fair play.

If anyone wants to donate to Dove House (a very very worthy cause), you can do it directly, anytime you like, without having to involve or support that detestable individual !

I did it and recieved a message that said thanks for your donation and you can click a link , but ive checked my bank and phone usage and the money hasnt come out anywere I can see .

Why knock Cooke when he's doing such a remarkable fundraising effort?

Maybe just maybe because he only knows Paul Cooke from when he was playing for Hull FC, and as a fan of Hull FC he feels let down by the way a certain Mr Cooke left the team that he(poster) supports and he feels aggrieved by this. Just a thought?

Or maybe he knows what paul cooke "the man" is really like.

I would think that over the coming months Dove House will see an increase in charitable donations made to them because of the efforts of Paul Cooke and his marathon efforts.
Yes we can all agree that we can donate whenever we want but sometimes charities rely on public figures to raise the profile of the charity (see Band Aid, Red Nose Day) to inject a much needed cash injection.
If this man raises £50000 or £50 then who are we to knock him and not support his efforts.

Just want to echo the thoughts above, Cooke is just the vehicle facilitating money going to a very worthy cause, and it is the cause we should take comfort from backing not him.

Dependant on how you measure 'good' and 'bad' I would say he will do more good for the patients of Dove House who may get some increased quality of life because of the donations than any bad or harm he caused Hull FC by leaving the way he did - the club 'survived' and we moved on.

If it was a relative of ours would we refuse to let them go into Dove house on the basis that some of the care maybe funded by Cooke? - Thought not, time for some perspective....

Exactly. Good luck to him. I'm far, far away from his biggest fan, but raising awareness and money for a local and special charity can only be credible and gain respect for.

We often have debates on this board about players behaviour, second chances etc, now I have no respect for him regarding the [iincident[/i(s)...however I sincerely take my hat off for him for this, like mentioned he lost a parent to cancer and none of us would wish that on our worst enemies, he clearly has great respect for Dove House and wants to repay them for the care they provided for his Mum, and more importantly due to who he is he will raise the profile of the charity considerably....I am very opinionated with my views on here especially when it comes to players off field antics, however even I know when to keep it real and draw the line, credit where credit is due.
