Whiting seems to play much better at fullback imo. Phelps deserves a few more games to see how he goes, he's not had the best of starts though, last night was probably his best game.

Really? I'd say your centres job is too push through the line, hands offs, banbozzle defences, typically at close to mid range, not full length of the field tries - that should be a player like the winger, who is ideally backing up.

Phelps had his best game for us last night...was joining the line well and gives us options.

I disagree that Phelps should be given a few more games he should be dropped to the 20s to be given a chance to improve his performance, Agar is quick enough to drop the likes of Turner (who played well be all accounts at Quins)!!
Phelps has not looked as good as Whiting in the f/back role and I am starting to wonder if this is why no other sl club came in for him.

He looked like he was playing in his tortoise skin slippers again. The guy who closed him down looked like he was running on an airport escalator.

He's played 3 matches with last night his best,he had no pre-season with us...Turner has had enough chances and isnt good enough IMO.

We will agree to disagree, Phelps was poor imo...Horney has been poor (barring a handful of games) for a few years so I will agree with you on that point.

to be fair he did well picking the ball up , but i cannot understand why somene who knows he is not the fastest and knowing someone is on his heels does not try a weave change of direction its harder or the defender to tackle . and as for phelps as said only been here 3 games give him time

I agree with giving him time, but that time should be in the 20s it will give him the chance ot improve his form. We are hardly in a position to be carrying players right now!

In defence of Whiting, he had 4 players chasing him down, he was bound to be caught by one of them. The guy picked up a loose ball and just got caught short, i doubt there are many players around who wouldve scored after what he had to do.

Re Phelps, i think hes forging a decent partnership with Long. In attack i would move him to 6 as he has better hands than Horne who should be moved to FB and work as the extra link running into the line. In defence, leave Phelps at FB and Horne at 6.

Phelps improved since I saw him last (Wakey), come into the line a lot more, made a couple of half breaks and made some good passes. I'm not worrying about him whatsoever, his confidence will come and will prove his class.

at least in picked the ball he got himself in a position to attempt something - I'd like to see any of you run that far!!!

some of his defensive play has been exceptional this season - with you on his back no wonder his pace is slow!!

I said this last night, we don't anticipate a break/off the cuff play.

It's been terrible aspect of our game for sometime now.

Thought he did quite well tbh - was semi-confident he was going to make it.

Exactly what i said last night. My son also mentioned that the Cas players had to turn round and chase him down but still beat the Hull Back-up, has been a problem for years.

There are dozens of players in SL who would have scored from that position

Just for the record I was not knocking the guy for not scoring, he helped set up our try with that run. I was just laughing cos is it has happened so many times, anywhere where was Briscoe? Yet again he fails to support a break, that needs to improve imo.

There are but most are backs. Whiting is a loose forward playing in the centre. To be honest he got further than I thought he would. He did well to be in a position to make the break , didn't panic and do something stupid and we scored shortly after. The problem is that we only have two threequarters in the team and nothing in the pipeline.

I thought Phelps played well and Whiting for me is just a Steady eddie who will do a job for the team but not a gamebreaker
