I'd dare to be different and bring Calderwood back on the wing with Hall as centre and go with Turner and Whiting in the middle wth Horne on the bench. We need to try something different as going with the same old Horne/Washbrook combo just doesnt work at all.
Leave Tansey at FB as he offers us a bit extra with joinng in the attacking line, well that is when we have one of course.

why not try danny houghton at half back with horney try something new he runs none stop all game i would like to see it but who are us ?

Tansey - Our most creative player, putting him in the halves because all of our hopes rely on him.
Turner - Been great in the centres recently, and I wouldn't want to move him from there.
Whiting - Great player, but going to FB as part of my Tansey-to-SH plan.
Washbrook - Nothing special, but could be okay next to Tansey in the halves. Gets in my side purely because of the fact that there is no-one else to go there.
Horne - Not match fit, and was poor last week, and the last few seasons, tbh. Put him in the u20's.
Berrigan - I've kept forgetting that he's been on the field these past few weeks. Definitely shouldn't be in the halves.
Hall - Liability at centre, so I wouldn't put him in a higher pressure position.
Webster - He's a coach, not on the playing rosta, and would count to the quota (or whatever it's now called). I'd prefer him to Horne, Berrigan, but we still can't have him.

Our hopes really rest on Tansey, though.


I'd want Houghton starting at Hooker and playing as much time as possible. I also want to have 3 forwards on the bench, not 2 as we had last week.

Briscoe is settled nicely on our left side now with Manu and Yeamo so that needs to stay and will eat Rovers' right side for breakfast.

I would prob go with;

FB: Whiting
LW: Briscoe
LC: Yeaman
RC: Berrigan
RW: Calderwood/Hall
SO: Turner
SH: Tansey

That would be our strongest back setup available IMO and i would be alot more confident.... I would also think about putting Washy at loose man and spell Fitz in the forwards!!

Why is everyone saying Horne? He's rusty and was shocking last week. He shouldn't be in the team. He isn't match-ready yet, that was made clear last week.

To be fair, he was playing at hooker last week. Why anyone would play someone at hooker, who has never played the position before, in their first game back from injury is completely beyond me.

Been told on good authority that it will be Washbrook and Tansey at halfback. Whiting will be fullback with Calders coming back into the side. Not sure if Horne will be on the bench or not.

Haven't we seen enough of Washbrook at halfback to know that he's not a halfback? I'd prefer a rusty Horne to a fully fit Washbrook.

Washy is worth a spot for his defence alone plus he has been involved in a few of our tries recently, it's not ideal but if Horne is not full fit then he is better coming off the bench.

I have to disagree. He is a very good defender, but that's not the primary function of a halfback.

But if Horne can't do the 80 mins then he will be a possible weak link in defence, Washy is the next best option especially if Whiting is at fullback.

I think Turner has had some better games at SO than Washbrook. I'd say he was the next best option (assuming Whiting is at FB). That would leave us a problem in the centre though...

If Horne can't do the full 80, we might be stuck with it. Doesn't mean I have to be happy about it!

Well said Panda. Few others should bow in shame at their recent critiscm of Horne on here. Impossible task at Wakey that Agar gave him. I hope he can regain some of the early season form that some have forgotten he showed. Class tonight, reminiscent of his re-appearance at Wembley against Saints.
