He'll never be any better because of his defence, which has shown little (if any) improvement since his debut. I don't think it's an insult to a player to say they're championship standard - that's still a higher standard than the vast majority will achieve. I just don't think he'll ever be up to the standards required to defend consistently well in a SL side. If that makes my opinion 'not sensible' in your eyes, then so be it.

Constantly under immense pressure due to the goldfish bowl that is FC fans whom blame his for everything that goes wrong in defence!

He is a much much better pleayer than most give credit.

When whiting's on the wing it's the centre's fault. I distinctly heard turner shout "let go of it" to whiting which resulted in meli's 1st try

No, no! I lay the blame squarely at the feet of Leon Pryce and Francis Meli...if it hadnt been for them two i dont reckon Saints would have scored that try. IMO of course.

Two of those four tries , Meli should have been banged into row z , He was shown the touch line and quietly obliged.

You may not consider championship standard to be an insult. Others clearly do and use the term in that manner. From what I've seen of most championship backs Hall is clearly of a higher overall standard, and his scoring return against SL defences tends to back that up.



His defence is a concern because after an improvement it seems to have dipped back again and he's making the same mistakes. How much of that is down to an inability or unwillingness to learn I have no idea, hence I am not about to judge that under no circumstances will it ever improve. Such certainty seems misplaced IMO.



I'd like to see him stay, knuckle down, and develop into the player he has the potential to be. I realise that he's failed to do that since his debut with us (although I think there has been some small improvement) but there have been some extenuating circumstances. However, as I've said elsewhere, I think he may be better served starting somewhere else with a clean slate in a different and possibly more settled setup.

The fact that when Craig Hall was dropped from the team we have shown some consistent form is no coincidence. I don't think I’ve seen a much worse defender in the black and white for a very long time! Also he is not that great in attack, he drops the ball a lot and his passing and handling skills in general are poor for a super league player. He is ok at finding a gap and ghosting through it but not that amazing. As soon as he makes one mistake his head goes and that’s game over for rest of game. I think mental toughness is perhaps his biggest weakness. I hope he leaves at the end of his contract for the benefit of both him and Hull FC.
