If the captain were to miss games through injury (not an alien concept at this club), would you feel comfortable with Washbrook stepping into their shoes? I know I wouldn’t.

| It has to be Craig Fitzgibbon, surely. It's a no brainer. The man is vastly experienced at the top level and is highly respected by his peers.
I agree with the people saying that Danny Washbrook would be a great choice as vice captain.
Leave Longy to lead us around the pitch.

| Radford should have gone with the rest of them. He brought absolutely nothing to the side last year despite vast experience.
Really can't believe people are still wanting him for captain. Not once did he open his mouth when players were huddled under the sticks. Berrigan did. Whiting did but Radford just took his pay and walked off.

I would like to think we have enough experience and leadership in the squad anyway regardless of who is captain so I wouldnt have a problem with Washy leading the team out in Fitzs absence.

I'd prefer to see him prove himself as a player before he's allowed anywhere near the captaincy. I've nothing against Washbrook, but I can't think of one reason why he deserves the position.

That is my major gripe with radders he does nothing to inspire or gee them up apart from look knackered, i appreciate the unnoticed work which people call it but he isn't the leader on the park we need imo.

Played all season out of position and got into most managers dream teams. See also 2006 & 2007 seasons.
He has nothing to proove IMO. A quiet (off the pitch) local boy with great ability, work rate and work ethic. That to me is more than most.

Well if he's more proven then Long, Cusack, Horne, etc. then... 'do you even watch RL?'
Local kids aren't always the automatic answer, especially ones with plenty to prove.

So you're bright idea is to appoint someone that will probably be leaving at the same time as fitz, or Horne (who doesn't want it anyway)? Were's the continuity or looking to the future? Can you also explain to me exactly what he has to prove?

| Think the majority feel Fitz should get it and i am in agreement. However i think Fitz should pick the Vice captain if he is given the job.
He should be told that we want him to choose a player who he sees as future captain material. Whether that be Washy or someone else it would not be a problem for me.
I dont see the point of a fitz/long(cusack etc) combination because when these players retire/leave we are left in the same boat unless we sign another leader to replace them.

My ‘bright idea’ would be to appoint someone who’s up to the job, as opposed to playing the ‘he’s young and local so it must be him’ card. He needs to cement a place in the starting 13 and call a position his own (I am aware of his injury problems), then we can begin to judge his leadership skills. I think Washbrook is a very good player, but he’s done nothing to suggest he should be made vice-captain.

Both Agar and Morgan put their teams of 2008 in the HDM and Morgan did indeed select Washy!

Yes, I know Morgan likes Washy as a player but getting into 'most managers dream team', I doubt.

| fitz a true world wide role model and should be made captain. He speaks people listen!!!
Washbrook vice, a local lad who can start learning the ropes now for when the old heads go. Think this will be the season that washy stakes his claim for a starting jersey at stand off to be honest and will grow with the guidance of longy and fitz!

| even though it hasnt been said about radders losing his captaincy but we all know its going to happen. now even though we have been dire for the last few seasons due to all the usual excuses and even though we was bad i still think in my opinion radders never gave up, never took a back foot and always put the minutes in. now as we all know, dead woods gone, great new experienced players in and im all for change and having watched shed loads of NRL, i know if fitzy does get the captaincy we wont be let down, he leads from the front, good talker, all round great player, the kind of guy if he runs through walls the team will follow. So when the new captain is announced i will be chuffed if it is craig but at the same time i hope radders gets some recognition within the team, with it been vice or club captain because as i say im a big fan...As for Longy, im sure i read some were in his book that the captains role wasnt for him, he just wants to get on with his rugby so i'd like to think rich agar has took notice and leaves him away from it all and lets him do the leading and talking with his rugby... So when it is announced i hope were all happy even though some wont, but lets get behind our team start to finish and give them our all because i for 1 cant wait for the new season, come on u ullllllahhh!!!!!!!
