Normally I'd agree, but as our halfbacks haven't exactly been ripping it up this year, I see no problem having a couple of new ones.

I'd go with Thorman at FB, G Horne at centre, Hall on the wing and Berro and Whiting in the halves.

There are numerous ways in which it could go, I just hope Agar reads this thread so he knows what they are

He could rotate the wings to keep them fresh and just leave the props on for 80 mins.

Had a few decent games for Hull last season I thought, especially against Warrington at home (the game where Radford on about 79 minutes decided: "I know what I'll do, they're about 30 metres away from our try line on the 4th tackle so perhaps I should interfere with the ptb"icon_wink.gif.

I think its a logical move by Agar to bring Broughton in for the time being, however like a few other people have said, I wouldnt play him at the expense of Hall/Horne/Whiting.
I would go for something like:

Whiting
Hall
G.Horne
Yeaman
Calderwood

Hall seems to be low in confidence at the minute and switching him to the wing would give him an opportunity to bag a few trys and take the pressure off him a little bit. As for Whiting at fb, I'd stick him there in defence because he reads the game well and he's a safe pair of hands. However in attack, I think we could do with his creativity so I'd use him outwide as an extra ball handler. As for Calderwood, with him been the only real recognized winger in the squad due to the absence of Raynor/Briscoe, I'd switch him to the left side, as we utilise that wing more and I think everyone would like to see what he can do with abit more ball.

Guess the Rovers trolls on here are confusing desperation with an injury crisis, again!!!

Injury crisis ??? We started the season with no scrum half, one recognised centre and two internationals with long term injuries with no idea of when or even if they would return. Now we have lost two back-up players in Byrne and Briscoe who shouldn't have been in the starting 17 anyway.

We started this season with a squad that was low on quality AND numbers and I certainly won't be blaming our poor results or our dismal position in SL on injuries.

We are supposed to be a top club but season after season we're running to Leeds cap-in-hand hoping they'll lend us a player or two. We have become pathetic.

Grade A license off the pitch, grade C/D on it !!!

Broughton is an orite loan signing, fairly pleased with it seeing as its a months cover. But Goulding would have been a much better loan signing.
Also wish we would try and get Tim Smith on a month or twos loan. Our halves have been rubbish for quite a few games now and with R.Horne picking up a knock and Thorman just been a very poor player, I would be interested to see how well Smith would go for us for a month or two

When did i ever say i was blaming our poor form on an injry crisis. We have an injury crisis, thats a fact. Our players are good enough, thats my opinion, our coach is clueless, thats probably a mix of fact and my opinion.

I wasn't having a go. Just saying that I don't think that our injuries constitute a "crisis". We have a few injuries, like many other squads, that's just the nature of the game but when you start the season with the squad that we did, you really are asking for a mediocre season with or without your fair share of injuries.

We have 8-11 players unavailable with a squad of 28. When does it get to "crisis" point? When we can't field 17 players - because we're not that far off? Not disagreeing about the squad quality, but you can't say that the number of unavailable players we currently have is a normal level, that's just silly.

What I'm syaing is that when you start a season with a squad that lacks quality AND depth, then there is something seriously wrong for a club of our size. To start blaming injuries and talking of "crisis" is just detracting from the fact that our recruitment and retention has been pi$$ poor for too long now.

Apart from Wakey, how many other clubs have got to the point where they have 11 players unavailable this season?

Ofcourse we have started to pick up a few injuries (probably more than most) but the performances were mainly poor before the injuries started to mount up. IMO the reasons for our poor performances/results are in my above post.

We started with a squad lacking in quality and depth so to start blaming injuries, IMO, is just a little short-sighted.

Don't think anyone's started [iblaming[/i injuries as such, have they? For a start, we began our losing run before they really hit (apart from at FB at any rate). But dismissing them as having no effect would be equally as daft.

We're also missing two players who would make a huge difference in Crocker and Lauaki.

The way I look at it is that injuries may not be the underlying problem, but they're certainly going to make it more difficult to turn things around.
