We all know the match this team sheet relates to.
Man for man, probably not too much difference to the current set up in terms of individual ability.
The difference is that everybody to a man is in their correct position and so crucially we have a top 6,7,9 and 13 all where they should be.
It really is quite a simple game isn't it.'"
Not quite correct, whatever the team sheet said, I only remember Brough playing 7 once, that was the week before the cup final, throughout that season we played and in the cup final, we played a system with Horne as the scrum half and playmaker through the middle, and effectively played two stand offs, Brough second receiver on the right and Cooke on the left, all three arguably out of position, but it worked well, we had much more of a structured attack then the shambles we have now.

Not to mention Blacklock actually playing full back and Motu on the wing, which was definately not their preferred positions.

Yep, both of those had very good games too, shows that Kear could pick players in different positions for specific games, I can only think that he did this because he felt that certain attributes the said players had suited those positions for that specific game and opposition, and get the best from them, we can only dream of such depth in preparation mow, remember one of Agars early pearlers? Think everyone was expecting Motu to fill in for Briscoe. Amazement when Blacklock stood back and played full back. Motu scored a cracking try on the wing and the rest is history.
To be fair to Agar i dont worry about the opposition... i do however worry about falling asleep during the game due to boredom.

| Another thing I found surprising was reading Moa's interview last week how it was Fitzy that designed them all diets and told them the right foods to eat . Surely this should be sorted out by the coaches and physio's who should be monitoring what they eat .

You would have thought so. Fair enough for Fitz to add some of his experience but it should have already been done to a degree and I think it was tbh. Players do get set targets for weight gain etc and how to achieve it.

| Quote ="carl_spackler"Being absolutely honest, I think with Agar in charge we're about 8-10th. Based on the squads and what we saw from teams last year, as well as the limited evidence from the opening 2 rounds, I think you can almost split SL into little groups with where they're likely to finish:
1-2: Wigan & Warrington
3-5: Saints, Huddersfield & Leeds
6-7: Rovers & Bradford
8-10: Crusaders, Castleford & Hull
11-14: Harlequins, Wakefield, Catalans & Salford.
[size=150Crusaders look to be more than the sum of their parts whereas we're less than ours[/size, and Cas will be their usual good attack and weak defence. If we don't improve our defence I think that attack will therefore nick them results where we won't.'"
I don't necessarily agree with this. I think the spine of Crusaders (Shifcofske, Witt, Sammut, Withers and possibly Hanbury) are man for man superior to us in every position. It is only our prop forwards and 2nd rowers that seem to be better than theirs. As much as we applaud Agar for recruiting some of our forwards, other than O'Meley and Moa, he has recruited in all the wrong areas imo. Also, I think that players agents offer players to clubs, and those players would have signed for us under any coach we had at the time. All the "he sold me the vision" paper talk is bullshyt.

| How can Agar justify, giving players a day off from training??
Surely, they'd be better served, trying to perfect set moves,
and the recurring weaknesses in their edge defence.
No wonder, defencies are never improved !!!

9 day turnaround after a 5 day one between a derby and Leeds. A day off doesn't seem outrageous.

In our current predicament, the coaching staff should be trying to rectify
our major on-field problems.
I wouldnt have thought, this would be overly excessive physically.
We'll have to agree to disagree Mrs B

Players are not contracted to train 365 days a year, you do realise that?
If any Coach had his players training for 2 weeks without a day off he would lose the dressing room within that period and set the club back months.
Lets see what happens in the next 3 or 4 weeks before everyone gets silly and hasty. A season is a long time, it is certainly not made up of 2 games against possibly 2 of the best 5 teams in the Comp.

If it's as complex as the coaching targets god help us.

Kebab/KFC - insert as applicable particularly following a catastrophic derby loss in full view of Rovers fans.

Of course, i realise player's dont train 365 days a year!!
This is not a reaction to losing 2 games, if we were showing signs of improving as a unit, since last season, I would be happy.
But...... nothing has changed, since last season.
Same s**t - different day!!
Just my opinion of course!!

I think over those positions, yes they are stronger. Over the entire squad though, I think ours is stronger on paper. The old adage 'the forwards win the game, the backs decide by how many' has substance to it, and our pack is very strong. Unfortunately, we just don't have the organisation to be a team.
I also think we have better wingers than them, BTW. We just have such poor defensive structure that they are constantly isolated.
