But with a crowd 4000 down on capacity would it not have been prudent to offer family tickets elsewhere just to fill the ground and the coffers. Just a thought if people were actively seeking them.

Understand your point but your 'normal' games arent sellouts by a long shot. But the derby generally is so my point is knowing they were 4000 below sellout and people are looking for family tickets would it have put fans out to allow extra family packs to be given out in other parts of the ground? they are stewarded to a sellout so no problem. Well, for a start, if I was going to offer reduced ticket prices, I wouldn't do it for a game where we'd get our highest attendance of the season regardless. If you say you'll do family tickets elsewhere because W1 and W2 have sold out, then it follows that you should offer £19 tickets elsewhere if the South Stand has sold out. For a game like Rovers, it would probably be more profitable for the club to sell 19000 tickets at full price than it would be to sell 23000 at a reduced price. Particularly when you take into account the deal with the SMC that Kosh mentioned earlier.

As it happens, I probably wouldn't offer reductions for any game. The crowds will return gradually when they see a period of sustained improvement - success will be more of a factor than the odd game being reduced to £15, or whatever. We're only a few games into the reign of AP, McRae and Gentle, and it will take longer than that for the floating support to return. We (the fans [iand[/i the club) will have to be patient.

Great thats your opinion and you are entitled to it although i disagree. The same CC fixture last year was free and i dont think it will be be the biggest attendance this season. Pearson knows he has to get the floating support back and IMO isn't helping charging 16 quid. Incentives have to be given somewhere because times are harder than last year. As you say if the team are doing well the support will return eventually and hopefully not too late.

Seriously? It's been discussed on here any number of times, and Pearson has also said in public that it prevents most discount schemes and he's trying to renegotiate it.

He's said he wants to get back to the averages we had a couple of years ago as soon as possible. At no point has he said he wants 3000 more paying spectators this season.

Basically, the more fans we get the less we make per head on average. This means that at a certain seat price we stop making any money and start losing it. We can do some discounting - as per the South Stand pricing this season - but we can't drop prices to silly levels just to get bums on seats.

Tbh I don't think discount tickets are great in the long run. Once people have had a discount they tend to begrudge paying full price again. If you do it too often it might even effect season pass sales

Good point well made. The thing which will affect attendances is not so much the price, but rather the performances on the field. As these improve so will the size of the crowd.

This will happen though,we already have come on in leaps.
