2-3 days and you can put weight on it, a week and most of us could maybe do our jobs.....................playing RL a tad longer maybe upto month depending on where the sprain is ( I bet its lateral )

It depends how bad the sprain is. I had quite a bad one a few years ago - I was on crutches for 2 weeks and couldn't run properly for about 3 months. In truth, the ankle has never been the same.

The biggest disappointment is not being able to see the impact he has had on young players or Horne, simply because no settled pairing have played.

I'm not disappointed with him, per se. I'm disappointed that circumstances have conspired to mean that we haven't seen the best from Long yet, but most of the problems haven't been his fault.

We always knew when he signed he would most likely get injuries and they would not be the typical 1 game injuries but more like 4/5 game ones. Barring the Crusaders game when Agar gave Washy yet another chance to show himself the people stepping up have done the job well enough.
Horne for me was a bigger miss than Long has been and Turner can do a good enough job covering.

Yep, the severity of a sprain varies massively. Some take days to recover, some months and some never get right again.

So you want Hull to see in the future about who comes might become available.

Hull signed Long on the 1st June 2009, bradford signed Orford on the 16th November, thats nearly 6 months difference, at the time it looked like Orford would be staying at manly.

Whose to say he would have choosen Hull over Bradford anyway, Hull decision was a risk and the one that I am not sure has paid off yet, but one they had to make, without Long we wouldn't have beaten Saints and Rovers this season IMO.

We need to have a backup plan for next season though.

I'd like to think washy will get a look in but radford to stay at 13 and moa to keep his place will probably happen.

Would it worth looking at a loan signing if Long is out for a few weeks?

Greg Mcnallly or Luke Robison for Huddersfield could be options.

Leeds and Wigan maybe for a young player.

Do you honestly believe Huddersfield would loan out Robinson to a Super League rival!!!

Maybe not but if he isnt happy or getting a game in his position he could force the move.

Just looking at options, hopfully Long will be back in a couple of weeks so it wont matter.

Do you really think Washy should get picked over turner in the 1/2s?

Washbrook doesnt get anywhere near the game line before he passes the ball therefore doesnt commit any defenders to him creating no space outside him. I thought he was very average against Warrington and Celtic

what we all have to remember is that washy is only a makeshift 6,and his best position is at 13,so,could possibly,be the natural heir to fitzys thrown(possibly!!!),whereas turner is touted (by agar)as a more natural 6.washy may not be uprooting trees,but he is filling a gap.

Reading the Blog Long actually gives no indication of time or severity at all:

"As for me, I had a scan on Tuesday to have an initial look at the injury and we will monitor it over the next few days with Rich and Simon Pope our physio to see how it looks. It was an odd one really, I just got my foot caught and went over on my ankle which can happen fairly easily, so we’ll have a look it at this week and see how it goes."

Nothing else. Cup match not mentioned. My paranoia induced by the last 2 seasons' injury runs tells me that's not good news.
