there is so far to go on this it is untrue, bear in mind nobody who has contacted the council with F.O.I requests has had a reply as yet, or even an acknowledgement of their request (well, the 12 or so people I know who have submitted them).
It would have to go to the S.O.S for the Environment, before that it would have to go to the Local Government ombudsman, no need to panic, just time to get organised.

| I thought Allem wasn't interested in rugby a few months ago, now he thinks its the greatest and a merged Hull team will be the best ever ever ever? I smell a rat, and I'm not talking about the KC burgers.

| Quote ="Beanman"I think I must be missing something here but I don't really see the downside to the city as a whole. I accept there may be concerns for us as FC fans and we need to do our utmost to ensure security of tenure etc but taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture (and any other cliche you care to throw in!) where's the problem.
Walton street car park is a mess and anything that can be done to redevelop it must be a positive. The council have had ample time to do something with the site and have chosen not to do so, why not let someone else have a go. The fair, whilst traditional sucks huge amounts of money out of the local economy, you just need to look at the books of traders in the city to see a drop in income for 2 or 3 weeks around the fair to see the impact it has. I appreciate that the council must make a fair bit in rent but presumably its worthwhile for the showmen to come and given that most of them are not local this is effectively taking money out of the city. As regards the market this could just be either shut down or relocated.
Whatever Mr Allam is he is not stupid so I think we have to accept that either his sports village will work, in which case great, or it is a cover for some sort of residential or commercial development as has been suggested elsewhere on here. If this happens surely its better than the bombsite we have at the moment and either way it will give a much needed boost to the local construction industry.
Call me naive but I actually think he's genuine and his motives are to leave a legacy behind him (a modern day Mr Ferens if you like.)If he can do this and make a few quid at the same time good luck to him!'"
I disagree about Walton st, its a car park most of the year and as such its serves the purpose. The fair is a part of our heritage and whilst I agree about it taking a lot out of the city, perhaps Mr Allams scheme will do a similar thing only 52 weeks a year. Maybe the fair would continue with Mr Allam setting the prices instead of the council.
If it is developed where do cars park on matchdays, the local streets will be chocker.
Mr Allam will prove to be less then any Ferens, Wilberforce, Reckitts or Pearson he is another Lloyd who takes his chances. Those people GAVE freely to the city, this one wants to TAKE, including West Park. If he wants to add a legacy to the city perhaps clearing away some of the slum area's lacking investment, but is there any money in that ?

| I've heard all this before with Lloyd. He bought City, then Hull and very nearly crippled both clubs in an attempt to make money. Didn't he at one point want to buy Rovers so he could merge both the RL clubs? This whole saga will end in tears and it will be Hull that get done if our BOD dont keep one step ahead.

They were the true philanthropists of this City, not Allam who will probably not even by remembered in the city in 100 years time never mind having a school, road and art gallery named after him.
I said this Ian. Allam says he wants to give something to the people of Hull. Ask the people on the Ings Road Estate that are still left there if they would like an olypmic size swimming pool and squash courts to use or somewhere decent to live.

well said whitestar... if he wants to run a non profit making business for the people of hull why not open a childs burns unit, or a large hospice or something similar where people WILL respect him ..

| I can not see what Hull FC are going to gain at all if this goes ahead. A load of facilities which we do not need and an extra 10,000 seats we will not use and an excuse to increase the rent we have to pay, and he thinks giving Hull KR a million pounds is a way of treating the two clubs fairly. I don't think so. I believe the reason he gave Rovers the money is so they will have to play ball in the future if he wants the two clubs to merge or to play in the same stadium. I just hope Hull FC don't accept any soft loans or any shareholders sell to him.
It is imperative that the Council explore all eventualities before agreeing to sell. That includes ensuring the price is the full original cost of the stadium plus an extra amount for the land, and a buy back clause if his pipedream never happens or a guarantee of any profit from any future sell on comes back to the Council. He should not have any problem with this because "I don't want to make money out of sport"
I also think it is essential that Hull Fair continues at its current Walton Street site. Health and Safety issues would probably stop any re-location and it must not be allowed to die. It is part of this City's heritage. The way he dismisses this in interviews as not worthy of a response just shows how far removed he is from the people of Hull, but then we already knew that when he suggested the two rugby clubs should merge in his first interview.

I doubt even Allem thinks it could ever happen, and if he does, then he needs some better advice.

Are you not perhaps being a little unfair here. I do not know Mr Allam and I preume neither do you, apologies if you do, and therefore its not really posssible for either of us to asses the degree of his philanthropy.
Even philanthropists have egos and to be fair whilst a housing project in Ings Road woul undoubtably have a more immediate and useful impact in reallity it wouldn't live long in the memory except for of those people immediately effected. So if the intention is a legacy to the name Allam then I suspect that the sports complex would be a more attractive proposition.
Just my own point of view but in the same way that the perception on here seems to be that the views from the media are overly positive it seems to me that most of the views on here are all very negative and letting the possible downside to FC outweigh the possible upside to the city as a whole.

How much is Walton St. used as a carpark these days? I thought the park and ride had stopped from there now so presumably most of the cars parking there are using the existing sports facillities. Whatever is being proposed will have to include adequate parking facillities within the planning proposal and in reallity any commercial venture will only work if this issue is addressed properly.
I agree that the fair is part of the city's heritage but I would guess that most people only go one or two evenings a year (possibly "most" people don't go at all - I don't know) is this enough to stand in the way of developing what could be a major asset to the city, my view is no but thats only my personal thoughts and I don't expect everyone to feel the same. FWIW I actually enjoy going to the fair every year so I've no personal axe to grind.

Redevelopment of what is essentially a derelict piece of wasteland
Significant employment opportunities both in the building phase and longterm as the various parts of the project come on line.
Opportunites for small business to ride on the coat-tails of the larger development again creating wealth and employment and a chance for the whole area to be rejuvinated
Improved facillities possibly including training facillities for the clubs using the KC.
I know the above will take a long time to filter through and in some cases may not happen but if nothing is done then we're stuck with the status quo for better or for worse

He can easily finance it.Can't see Banks and financial institutions saying no to him tbh.Based on the profits his own company made last year, the risks as far as the banks are concerned are very small.
