As you say the pass option was fine it was enirely Turners fault we didn't score there. He had pretty much a clear run to the line and also had Lynham on his shoulder. Just another in a growing list of basic errors he's been making this year.

And not doing anything to rectify them either......Been making mistakes since we got him and god help Sts with him...hope he is up against Yeamo when we play them nxt season.

I think with a full back these days you have to look at a player who is almost another half then attacking the line and has that skill set.
McKinnon could do this, so does Tomkins week in week out. Would you even think to play Briscoe at 6 or 7 out of desperaton? I dont think so. So even with his other attributes I wouldnt want him as the starting full back.

Briscoe needs to stay on the wing. He's one of the top wingers in the world and so should be played there. We just need to give him better service.
As good as his running game is, a fullback isn't just about that. They need to have good hands and creativity, joining into the line as an extra runner or pivot. I would rather play Horne at fullback than Briscoe, however I would prefer it if we signed a good specialist fullback (not McDonnell).
For next season I would like to see a backline of:
New FB, Lineham, Yeaman, Crooks, Briscoe
Ben Crooks would need to bulk up a bit, which would help his tackling too. I think that players like Crooks and Lineham have earned their position and deserve to stay there.

If Brown makes a top centre of him, fair play, but he's certainly got his work cut out. Me and my Dad were on about him yesterday and we wouldn't be surprised if he was more of a McManus signing than Brown, possibly looked at him at their place and thought he was big, quick and young, and hoped Brown could mould him into a similar player to Cudjoe. Don't see it happening personally.

Imo that sounds just like a player that Brown likes aswell. Cudjoe, McGilvary, Lawerence.

I couldn't believe the blurb about him being an excellent defender when it was announced, and I don't believe that Brown is daft enough to share the opinion, either.

More or less go along with that, but question marks over Jason Crookes if confirmed, who may challenge for Linehams wing spot and don't think that there has been any confirmation on Will Sharp for next season, starting too look like we may not have needed J Crookes

If Sharp is to go at the end of the season then another winger will be needed. Wether that is Crookes or someone else, but we need a third winger.

Thanks I think Briscoe is a world class winger but we should leave him there. Too many times we have made a promising player switch positions and there development has suffered because of it

For me, a fullback is a third playmaker in attack, Tom Briscoe as good as he is ain't a playmaker.

To be fair I only meant we may not need J Crookes if Sharp were to stay, but we also have Ben Crooks who can cover the wing position.

I agree we should keep him on the wing next season, but I think he is already proving he could be good cover at fullback and it would be interesting to know his thoughts having had a couple of runs in the role. Hopefully we have a specialist full back to be announced on 4th Sept if not then I would prefer Briscoe or McGoldrick (if retained) as opposed to Horne.

spoke to him on that very subject on sunday,says hes enjoying it and will do what ever is needed,but he did say he will just get used to it then will prob get moved

Modern day FBs are just like another HB, what Tom Briscoe is not. Class winger, yes. Fullback, nope.

Should have sacked off Foster, started Horne at FB and had Green on the bench. Not that it would have made much difference!
