| I liked westy but if he wants to go and we get a fee then so be it,it does make me laugh that a few on here am sure come on just to mischief make,if we had kept him and then he had left next year some would have said pearson should have sold him,imo Abdull should be slowly intergrated into the num13 shirt as I see him as our future

| Quote ="cheekydiddles"Leeds agreed terms with Westerman but wouldn't agree to £150k transfer fee Hull were demanding. Leeds were hoping Hull would lower their fee but in meantime Warrington agreed to meet your £150k transfer fee valuation so that's where he's ended up. Leeds wanted Westerman for some reason (I can't work out why) but not at the price Hull were demanding.'"
IF this is correct, then it is a very good bit of business by Pearson.

| I agree, if we did get £150k for Westerman then it's top dollar (above top dollar IMHO) but as we all know what is said out loud is all speculation, without any hard facts that's all it will ever be including how much Lees were supposedly offering/not offering.
Even if AP comes out and tells us it's X I wouldn't believe a word given some of the carp that comes out of his mouth. It's easy to say we got £xxxx (overinflated figure) in a club announcement without it being actually true but it would certainly ensure fans are more forgiving/accepting than say if it were a much lower figure that's for sure, we certainly couldn't disprove it without being able to look at the books.
It's the fact I've heard lots of nonsense/abject lies coming out of APs mouth that I for one can't take what he is saying as the truth anymore.
Either way i still don't think we could have kept Westerman and be under the cap, I stated as much 2-3 months ago

This is the bit your are not explaining.
As has been mentioned, circumstances change and we are loaded up in the forwards. We play in a salary capped sport, something has to give. We have no idea as to when Warringtons interest became a genuine bid. For all we know this could have been 3 months ago or 2 weeks ago.
ATEOTD, it really doesn't matter. If you base a decision whether to attend or not based on what the owner comes out with then that puts you in a fairly unique position.'"
That question will be easily answered when we find out if a wedge of salary cap has suddenly become available. if it has then I've no issues with us selling him. If we've already spent it on manu then the owner has been lying out of his ass

| To be fair to Pearson it would not strengthen his negotiating position if he announced we needed to offload Westerman to get under the salary cap (which seems quite likely to me)
Getting anything over 100k for Westerman is fantastic business IMO.

I don't disagree but just don't say anything. Thinking about it, presume we must be under the cap with westerman in there or the RFL wouldn't have allowed us to register manu (unless he isn't yet registered)

I hope so, we can then how a couple of days of moaning and complaining and then we can move on.
I think I'll avoid this forum for a couple of days when it's announced.

| Maybe there hadn't been an official approach 11 days ago?
Maybe the fact that Ellis's surgeon gave him the all clear a few days ago has influenced things?
Who knows?

All good then. Hopefully we can strengthen the outside backs with his cap space

i think he has but really he doesnt need to.
Why all the denials by the club? Motu must have been really embarrassed to give that latest interview to the HDM.
All the fans want is honesty from the club.We all understand the club needs money, and if a good offer comes in for a player who is coming into his last year of contract then it has to be considered.
We have adequate replacements for Westerman.I see 13 been covered by both Abdull and Hadley.
We will miss Lineham much more than Westerman.
Just wish we could find a centre.
Still have nightmares that Yeaman will start

That would be nice, difficult with no quota places( is that right?) and lack of British talent.
Vidot is set to sign for SL club, can't be us as we don't have space do we?

| I'm not Pearson's biggest fan at the minute, I am however a massive Westerman fan. But, if a player turns round as tells you he has no intention of signing a new deal what do you expect Pearson to do? I would be touting him to everyone, because he'd have run his contract down and signed for Leeds for nothing next year anyway.
No Westerman will also allow Sneyd to really take control of the team too.
I'd prefer Joe to stay and sign a new deal, but if that wasn't going to happen I'm fully behind Pearson on this issue.

Doubtful , I think we have no quota spots available, cant think of any non quota ooc players, (Welham-hope not),
I remember seeing HDM article, which stated,we changed our target from a back ,to a backrower, most of us thought ,it was Ellis was retiring, but obviously it wasnt.
I'd sign an attack coach with some of the funds, but probably a tad optimistic, with AP's micro management policy.
UPDATE:
James Smailes
@James_Smailes
I can reveal Hull FC turned down Warrington bid at weekend for Joe Westerman, but that's not end of the story. Full story in tomorrow's HDM

So the deal wasn't done weeks ago like some posters have claimed.
Two real winners of this is Westerman and his agent, either way they get a payrise.

Worse case scenario for the club, if Westerman sets his stall out to sign for Leeds, and does the same as Tom Briscoe.
Leaves the club for free,at the end of his contract.

From what I heard 4 weeks ago Joe Westerman was told to look for another club, he had no other option. He was a "disruption in the changing room and was not pulling his weight and we would never see him in black and white again" those were the exact words from a usually very reliable source. Time will tell, but I believe it to be true.

| One of the halfbacks has to be running the show.
When J Thurston went off against Melbourne recently, Peter Parr shouted from the touchline, "Morgan's running the show now".
