| Personally think he's doing a decent job as DOR, given what he was up against when he joined and also effectively learning on the fly. He's still finding his feet as a DOR and should have been left to continue gaining experience in this role, so to throw the job of Chief Executive his way on top of that aswell, a role which he will have even less experience and knowledge in, seems a truly bizarre choice. I'm sure AT is guiding him and mentoring him along the way, but would have preferred to see a more experience hire in this role.
Learning 2 such important positions simultaneously will not be an easy feat for the guy and could very easily lead to dropping the ball somewhere.

Seems so and that didn't end well. It's not great that Richie will be approving contracts he's drawn up himself, a good CEO would at least be asking the DOR some questions to sense to check that club aren't yet again entering a bad player deal.
Do realise that sometimes a Head Coach will demand a certain player regardless of what the DOR and/Or CEO think though.

| What’s also written in the Mail is the concept of Swap Deals as it’s pretty damn obvious that Salford need a playing squad !!!
That got me thinking real hard !
Lane Fash Sao - surely we can swap these guys out !!
Didn’t I read on here someone suggesting Lane as a Marquee signing ?
I nearly internally combusted !
Surely we can swap some bang average players out and create some more cap space
The League suggesting we can take on an extra Overseas signing if helping Salford and extra salary cap.
Interesting to say the least
Off load Sao Fash and Lane and get 4 forwards lol

Wouldn't Pryce potentially block the pathway of Charles?

I’d think they’re different enough to think that long term could be great partnership but from what I’ve seen Pryce could end up playing fullback also. With Pryce though I think it sounds like he’s still got a future in Aus and has impressed in parts. He’s not established himself as starter like KPP but think he just has to work on defence a little, can’t see why he’d want to come back he’ll get opportunities at Newcastle don’t yet have a settled and established first choice 6 and 7.

I'm not sure if he is good enough or how highly Newcastle rate him, if players like Gamble, Cogger and Crossland are being picked before him, then you have to worry about your future.
They are also very keen on a new halfback.
I'd like to think if we signed him (which I don't think we will), he would play 6 and Charles and Kemp would be looking to replace Seizer.
We definitely need to keep an eye on the Salford situation, it's sad what's happening, but other clubs won't hand around.

| In regards to Myler and him being appointed CE and still being the DoR, having worked for and with a few self made millionaires they do not appoint people just because they are family etc, they only appoint people they know have the skills, mindset and ability to do the job. The money comes from hard work they put in and none of the ones I've worked with have ever thrown it around as they know & appreciate the value of it.
What's clear to me is Thirkill and Hood want/need someone they can and do trust at the club on a daily basis, Myler ticks that box. There'll also be more to the decision than just that, AT & IH will know more about Myler and his skillset than any of us and their judgement in business seems to have served them ok so far.
Had it still been AP as the owner then I could see why fans would be concerned about things, its still very early days and no doubt there will be changes going on for some time until the club has Thirkill & Hoods fingerprints all over it and this will just be part of the process in doing that.

| On the Salford front, I feel for the fans, the players and staff members as it sounds like they are in a real mess. Whoever is in charge at Salford now really needs to hang their head in shame.

| As much as jnlivw Sneyd, I'd have to say it's a no for me. We need a Kelly style off player, someone to take the line on, a bit of a maverick.
Like a few have said, I'd be looking at
Bullock, McDonald, Nikorima and Cross.
On the DOR bit
Wasn't/isn't Rowley moving up to DOR at Salford end of the season?
With all the financial issues there, could we offer Rowley the DOR position? He came very close to leaving them for us anyway, maybe job security with us may sway him.
Just a thought....

| I get the Sneyd isn't a Kelly type played, but if it's a choice of Sneyd or going with Cust and Seizer I'd bring Sneyd in both are injury risks and don't want Charles or Kemp playing 10 plus games.

If it is necessary for Salford to offload players, I’d hope we are able to strengthen our squad.
Personally, I’d like to see Sneyd, Cross, Bullock and McDonald come to us, with potential player exchanges as part of the deal.
I do wonder how the RFL are going to facilitate the situation. If it was a financial administrator it would be based on the best deal for the current organisation/creditors. I worry that the RFL might think well if we give Hull Sneyd, we’ll let Rovers have McDonald and Saints someone else…etc.
There is also the fact that whilst some players might want to come to Hull as we are offering an enhanced contract and more security, some players might may want to stay in the NW for personal reasons. However, this is the first time in over 20 years we have had this scenario, so anything could happen.
It’s an awful situation for Salford fans and players to be in, however the ownership/management of the club has been poor for a while now.
Hull are in a fortunate position of now having the funds and a squad that requires strengthening in several areas. With cap/quota dispensations, we have to make our move, as other clubs will only be acting in self-interest.
I hope Salford do pull through this situation. However, whilst I’m not against IMG, questions need to be asked about how Salford got a Grade A rating. The length of a TV gantry and Pixel definitions can not be rated on par with financial stability.

| Wonder if the RFL have given Salford a definitive date. Shaw saying "next few days".
The club might be under an NDA regarding investment, but it does look like time is running out for them

Agree. The original plan was to go with Sezer and Abdull so if Sneyd did happen (unlikely IMO) that’s an upgrade anyway and would give us great last tackle options and direction when both on the field and just give us better depth if and when one got an injury. For me look at the difference someone like Reynolds made for us last season, he was hardly a world beater but we looked a completely different side with a bit of direction. Moy’s going to get game time and he hopefully will bring that threat from broken play like Kelly did.
I also think Sezer and Cust could be better than people are seemingly giving them credit for. Sezer is just quality and Cust I’m sure there’s more to come. Wigan fans seemed to like him at 6 and he was first choice for a season and half from what I remember. He got an injury and was unlucky that French then switched to 6 and became the best player in the competition. When he signed for Wigan Manly put in a first refusal clause if he returned to the NRL so they rated him highly, hopefully we can get that bit more out of him.

Apologies and thanks for clarifying Dave.
However, the IMG oversight and weighting on a club’s financial viability is valid. This shouldn’t be coming to a head one month before the season starts, when those ratings were finalised in September. It’s not fair on the fans, players, clubs and credibility of the competition.

Think Seizer is a very underrated signing, he played well last year for Wests, I'm sure they only won when he played. Was very good in his first season at Hudds, hit and miss at Leeds, but think alot of that was down to injuries.
Cust the same, he is a good played if he gets a run of games .

| Looking on social media it’s maybe not quite what was hinted at yesterday with Salford. They say they’re negotiating with investors to get something sorted, but it seems that the RFL won’t be inviting or accepting bids for players, it’s still down to Salford if they sell. The RFL have reccomended they cut costs but it’s down to them how they do it. The quota/cap dispensation could be an option but would need a vote from clubs and not all are expected to agree to that.
Maybe not quite the ‘fire sale’ as reported yesterday, from purely Hulls point of view I think that’s better then an absolute free for all for all their players. We obviously want Cross and have been working on a deal a while, think they might be willing to sacrifice him with the other talent they have in the backline.

I'd be chuffed to bits if Cust is a success at Hull. The concern is he seems to have struggled badly since the arm injury all the way back in the cup final of 2022. Appears to have lost power in his passing game with lots of balls going to ground and he's also had a tough time defensively.
