I still don't think Gentle wants us to be a barnstorming team, so those looking for a blockbusting prop will probably be disappointed. And apart from Paea at Rovers I can't think of any OOC.

I still think Green will end up as a prop, I think we need one prop and one backrow forward, my pack next year would be.

Props watts, lynch, green, Bowden, new signing, young player promoted maybe Ryan wilson

Backrow Ellis, Westerman, whiting, new signing, Pitts, Hadley, kent, starling, young player maybe turgett.

I'd be happy with a halfback, young winger and 2 forwards.

As we seem to sign all ou players from Cas I'd look to buy Craig huby, as I think he is a good prop, but woud improve even more at hull.

Isn't thompson supposed to be a back rower? Looks bang average to me and there must be as good players coming through our junior ranks. I'm not keen on us signing average players who will block the way for our own youngsters

He started out as a back then switched to the 2nd row. Because of Cas injury problems he keeps finding himself back in the threequarters though, so he's only played a handful of games in the 2nd row. A bit like what happened to Richard Whiting.

He can play full back, wimger, centre and 2nd row which could come in handy. he played for England schools and he's already an established first choice at 21 years old or so. Could be a useful signing I would think.

Really cant see us making these big signings everybody wants. No decent Nrl players will leave dont think and most of the better super league players are under contract

With Green you're probably correct, problem is nobody except PG sees Pitts as a prop. So if he's determined to play Pitts at prop then yes, we do need a 2nd rower.

Agree with you about Huby, is his testimonial over yet? Got a 1 in 4 try scoring record and kicks goals too!

It's promising that Pitts has been playing at 13 recently rather than as an out-and-out prop. I know injuries have brought it about, but hopefully his performances will improve with the slight change and he'll stay there. I'd have him and Johnson sharing it, personally.

simple fact is, wire, wigan,leeds etc will not even think of sigining a player f his ability, hence us rotting around in 8th place for the near future

Good point. wire will sign their excellent hooker while we get their 3rd choice sluggish winger/centre/2nd rower.

thats my main bug-bearer regarding our recruitment, we never sign players who look like they could be top draw... i recall the many conversations weve had coming home from wakey when ryan atkins tore us apart, and the times when sammut was at the crusaders, good player we said, but of all the players from crusaders we could have picked up for nothing, we sign a 34 year old journey man centre!!!, you couldnt make it up.... then to cap it off, this season we sign a self-admitted past it 2nd row namely galea!!

I do find it funny that the worse the player seems to be, the more believable some people find the rumour.
Apart from one guy on here, has anybody heard this rumour? I know people at Cas and they've heard nothing of the sort. It's just BS and the reactions are laughable.

I think some posters on here sometimes forget that we are not a side challenging for honours and we haven't been for some time which limits us in terms of our recruitment. It's all well and good saying that the likes of Wigan, Warry and Leeds won't look at a certain type of player but would the players that those sides target be interested in signing for us? Right now my answer to that is no - especially if the above mentioned sides are also trying to sign them - so we have to look at sides below or around us in the table for our signings.

If we want to compete with the likes of Leeds, Wire, Wigan etc. then we're going to have to offer more money, as right now we aren't in their league. Paying that premium can seriously affect the depth of the squad.

If we adopt the same policy as we have this season with a marquee/premium signing (Ellis) mixed in with some promising youngsters (Arundel, Crookes) and some experienced players (Holdsworth, Galea) then I think we'll be on track to progress. It's not going to bring instant success but it will move us in the right direction.

when theres something worth shouting about, then i'll be the first in the que, but currently we are massively under achieveing whilst spending the same amount of salary cap as the top teams, something is fundamentaly wrong with hull fc as a whole....

Under spending on and off the field by the previous board, unfortunately fans like you want the club to magically transform the club I just over a year and produce a world class team.

The improvements on and off the field have been massive in the last year, why not give the club some time and get behind the club and Pearson, who has invested loads of his money not the club and maybe saved us from going the same way as Bradford.
