I see now. Rovers fans. Nothing to do this weekend than revel in our defeat because they have nothing to look forward to in their teams future apart for a chairman who is actively seeking anyone to sell the club to but telling the fans he'll make sure it the best thing for the clubs future. I know I'll sell it to a criminal who does time share scams. Until the dirty money never came through. Sorry, am I starting to revel in another teams misery? I'm not feeling any better about losing the final. Are you feeling any better about having a club with a bleak future and a chairman who's only about making money at whatever means?

May seem a strange emotion from a Robin but the Challenge Cup final is pretty much Rugby Leagues only opportunity throughout the year to show our game off to a watching national audience. We failed badly and I doubt that anybody other than a die hard fan would have been watching by full time. I appreciate that the weather played its part in it but both sides let themselves (and the sport) down on the day.

I assure you, there was no resting yesterday! Until about 5 anyway.

Philosophical.

I never expected anything other than a tough game and it turned out too tough. There's all sorts of ifs and buts, the weather, the injuries and their effect on team selection, the horrendous error rate, the dumb decisions and the descent into panic in the last quarter of the game.

For all that we played the wrong game for the conditions and badly in attack at that I don't think you can question anybody's effort out there. I was more cheesed off by the Tompkins try than anything else, defeat I can accept but that gave an extra kick in the teeth that wasn't really deserved.

Still on the positive side hopefully this has been a learning and character building experience. I don't subscribe to the view that you must lose first before winning but if some lessons have been learned then it isn't a total waste. And it will have put some cash in the club's coffers - something the small minded peasants in the east of the city can only look at with envy.
