Who gives a about the weir bar. I'm more concerned about our club than the weir bars' profits. A good move by the club in order to establish a more professional work ethic.
Can't believe some would complain about the ban, the club just seemed damned if they do and damned if they don't by some on other.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the club tackling the drinking culture of the past few seasons, or introducing a code of conduct. But I would question if it is a little ott singling out one particular bar and banning everybody from it 24/7.

I go in the Weir a lot, and as an FC fan have seen the players there after a number of games. If they lose a game by playing badly, the whole team shold be banned that weekend from going out. Win, they can drink where they like that night.

2 of the 'Weir drinking crowd' are still with the club, and were always in after most friday night matches.

The HDM article seems to blame the Weir Bar, and not the players for the drinking culture in there which i fully disagree with. And as for the bar being a place to be seen in, then so what?

yeah HDM in not getting all the details shocker. I dont see how banning players from a single bar will help because they would just move to the next bar along get as drunk as they like as often as they like and technically not have broken any rules so it would solve nothing just move it along. I'd like to think any code of conduct would have been discussed with the players first and making sure they all agree with them, and also agreed any punishments. didn't huddersfield have a similar setup last year which lead to Scott More and Keith Mason missing quiet an important game for them.

Theirs was "don't stay out late with Hollywood superstars"

Ours would be "stay away from that lass out of Emmerdale"

A positive move by the club and one aimed I suspect at appeasing the fans as its main aim. Many players will have been having an odd drink or so in quiet pubs near them for some time without causing any trouble for them, the club or the supporters. This will not be aimed at them, but the hardcore who presume they are above any sort of discipline and I for one hope it has an effect.

The drinking culture in this country will go through massive changes in the coming months /years and having a drink before, during and after matches will be a thing of the past for all of us.

Club need to ban players from any drinking establishment during the season, but to give some lee-way,from Monday's to eve prior to a game should be banned,(everywhere.), afterall everyone needs a bit of a social life.

I don't agree with drinking 24 hours before a game,but a total ban seems ridiculous as there are many others places they can use,but a total ban during a season is unfair and unworkable wether they play badly or well,win or lose,,these guys still need to have a life and enjoy it or whats the point,moderation is the key here i think,simple rules to obey if you ban them completely it will make the guys want it more wont they its only natural

Perhaps the players may decide to start frequenting a hostelry in Leeds quite well known in rugby league circles?

If they hadn't abused it the first place then they'd still be able to go in there. If they can't be trusted to conduct themselves in a professional manner then they now know what the outcome will be. The new year thing, if true does seem a tad harsh though.

I go along with the opinion the players should have been told the rules on drinking,and if they ignored them and made a prat of themselves whilst under the influence,then they miss the next match.Surely they can be allowed to have a drink without all this hoo har?
