| [quote="Jake the Peg":3ce8t651]On this occasion I'm not happy to be proven right yet again, but signing an unfit player, with a history of ongoing injuries, who doesn't have the mental capacity to look after his body was never going to have a positive outcome.
Poor judgement by myler/the club which has likely cost them a wedge of cash[/quote:3ce8t651]
I wonder if the club had a termination clause if he was unable to reach a certain number of games and the surgeon has now ruled him out.
I’d be a bit disappointed with Sneyd. Sneyd and Sezer wouldn’t work imo. Will Pryce would probably be a better option but I feel like we will go with Cust and maybe bring in someone for front row.

| Well it wouldn't be us if there wasn't at least one disastrous signing!
No idea what has actually gone on here but I feel it's good to get it sorted before the season actually starts. Whilst I am sure it's caused some disruption at the club, I feel it's better that it's happened in pre-season than during the actual season where it could have potentially left us in disarray as we have seen in the past.

Sneyd isn’t going anywhere it was reported yesterday by John Davidson that he’s not in talks with anybody

That was yesterday, as the song goes. Sneyd loves Hull, Salford need the cash, we have the cash.
It may not happen but as we know you expect the unexpected with Hull FC.

| I wouldn't rush into anything anyway. If running with Cust and Sezer in the halves means that Balmforth gets more time at 9 then that's a positive as I'd be more worried about losing him than Abdull. I think Bourouh/Balmforth from 9 will be more dynamic and creative than Bourouh/Cust.
We have Charles as back up in the halves and then Kemp after that.
Money saved on Abdul I would prefer to go into a centre and another forward.
I would take Sneyd for maybe just 1 year since he's 34 next month. He would be great to have around Charles and Kemp. But he isn't going to move back over for 1 year deal, unless we can promise him a coaching role after that.
The next couple of years aren't about winning anything. Wouldn't want to see us rush into a panic signing when and tie up cap space on a 3 year deal or something.

| If he has the operation he would be out for the season.
This has to be on Myler, needs to pull one out of the bag.

Salford will be keeping an eye on this, the only way sneyd moves is with a big fee and with what’s just happened I wouldn’t be shocked if you went all in for him

| I had heard that Abdull has only done 1 'field' session since he started with us - that was before all the stuff about a knee clear out. Good to see that what the owners have told Carty and Lasty about getting players out if we need to is true

Why is the only way Sneyd moves with a big fee? Salford need to cut 700k from their wages, you can't command big fees if you're desperate to sell

| I'll be amazed if we get Sneyd, I just can't see him moving back to Hull, if he leaves Salford then I'd expect him to sign for Leigh.
I'd be going for Will Pryce, think him as a runner would work with Seizer

| With Abdul gone that not only frees up a load of cash but also a marquee spot too. Now need another half for deffo as Charles showed last season he's not ready yet by a long way - wouldn't go for Sneyd. This could really work out really well for the club

Someone mentioned Kade Dykes a few pages back as someone who wouldn't count as quota. He's more of a full back but has played 6. Has a history of knee issues too just like his dad....

Very very little available without a quota spot.

| Have to feel sorry for him, looked to have got himself into shape before pre season.
Im no physio but it simply didn’t add up to me the recent reports. As soon as Cartwright said we think he’ll be better with the op I knew it couldn’t have been just a knee clean out as suggested as there’s no way they wouldn’t have just put him in for it while in pre season, even if this late stage it would have only been a couple of games missed. Unfortunately for JA I think the issue with his knee must be more serious and not just a clean out that loads of players have on the off season.
If that’s the case the decision is correct for the club. The last thing we need is another Trueman situation. Even If we don’t get someone in straight away we’ll hopefully have a bit of wriggle room to make a move if someone becomes available.

1 year in the UK when he was about 6 years old?
My sympathies go to whoever would have interpret / rewrite the rule if that happened!

frees up a marquee spot but only £50k on the cap which will be restrictive unless anyone knows of a half back who came through our academy and would command marquee money?

I don't like the rule personally but Leigh have Lam and O'NEIL in under it and Wakey have young Vagana too. Wonder how much junior RL they played over here

We could still in theory move Jordan Lane (eg) onto the marquee spot even if he's only earning £70k. It would free up an extra 20k on the cap. I know it's really nothing much extra, but there is scope to put any home grown player on the marquee spot and as long as they're earning more than 50k we will get a bit of cap room back.
But yeah, it's unlikely to lead to any significant signing, but there's not exactly any significant players available anyway.

| Does the last marquee spot have to be a player who has come through our academy, I thought it was just a domestic signing, so in theory we could sign Sneyd and only 50k would count on the cap.

If the rules are still the same as last year and not been amended further, the third player has to be just a Fed player. But you need at least one Fed trained player in order to have the full compliment of three marquee players.
